Bentley Systems Inc., the leading company dedicated to providing comprehensive software solutions for sustaining infrastructure, has released the 10.02.00.12 version RM Bridge CONNECT Edition is a major offering within the Bentley bridge solution, which also includes world-class applications for road design, digital terrain modeling, bridge design, structural engineering and analysis, steel detailing, concrete reinforcement, and bridge load rating and analysis.

RM Bridge is compatible with MicroStation, Bentley’s common design platform, and ProjectWise, Bentley’s platform for connecting people and information across project teams. This integration substantially broadens the movement of data not only within the bridge delivery disciplines (planning through construction) but also across the life of the bridge. Running RM Bridge with ProjectWise and/or Bentley Navigator, users are able to perform a synthesis of bridge information modeling, continuously sharing, reusing, and repurposing data. They enjoy the many benefits of real-time collaboration and streamlined engineering content management – working across multiple locations and time zones, among numerous contributors, companies, and stakeholders.

With this system, data integration happens at a fairly granular level, enabling users to:

- Browse quickly for the right information, including legacy bridge data
- Create an array of structure and infrastructure project models and flyarounds
- Utilize raster and other data formats
- Check for geometrical conflicts in the multi-discipline infrastructure model
- Simulate and manage construction schedules

By implementing the Bentley bridge solution, users enjoy the full benefits of a real-world solution for delivery, maintenance, and operation of bridge systems, and improve ROI in data at every step of the bridge lifecycle.

The Cause of Cracking in Post-Tensioned Concrete Box Girder Bridges and Retrofit Procedures

  • Quality: Unspecified
  • Abstract: The appearance of distress in the form of cracking in any concrete structure is one of concern and consternation to all parties involved. It is evidence of an unfavorable stress condition and if serious enough could affect the structure’s integrity. Cracking may occur for a number of reasons but usually is the result of the interaction of several causative factors. These factors taken individually may be minor but when superimposed can result in distress. This paper presents documentation of problems that have led to cracking in post-tensioned concrete box girder bridges in Europe as well as in the United States. It discusses cracking resulting from inadequate flexural and shear capacity, thermal stress cracking, and cracking resulting from tendon curvature and tendon misalignment. Also discussed are possible retrofit measures. The intent of this paper is to bring these problems to the attention of the engineering and construction professions with the hope of precluding their recurrence.

entley Systems Inc., the leading company dedicated to providing comprehensive software solutions for sustaining infrastructure, has released the 10.00.00.49 version WaterGEMS CONNECT Edition is a hydraulic modeling application for water distribution systems with advanced interoperability, geospatial model building, optimization, and asset management tools.

WaterGEMS provides you with a comprehensive yet easy-to-use decision-support tool for water distribution networks. The software helps improve your knowledge of how infrastructure behaves as a system, how it reacts to operational strategies, and how it should grow as population and demands increase.

From fire flow and water quality simulations, to criticality and energy cost analysis, WaterGEMS has everything you need in a flexible multi-platform environment.

WaterGEMS provides numerous software tools for:

- Intelligent planning for system reliability: The capability of the water network to adequately serve its customers must be evaluated whenever system growth is anticipated. With WaterGEMS, effectively identify potential problem areas, accommodate service area growth, and plan capital improvements.
- Optimized operations for system efficiency: Realistically modeling the operation of complex water systems can be difficult. With WaterGEMS, model pump accurately, optimize pumping strategies, and plan shutdowns and routine operations to minimize disruption.
- Reliable asset renewal decision support for system sustainability: When it comes time to renew or replace your water infrastructure, the amount of asset-related information you must consider can be overwhelming. WaterGEMS tools such as Pipe Renewal Planner makes the task much easier by analyzing and comparing a wide range of variables to prioritize renewal decisions.

Stress Concentration at Notches

Author(s)/Editor(s): Mykhaylo P. Savruk, Andrzej Kazberuk | Size: 13 MB | Format: PDF | Quality: Unspecified | Year: 2016 | pages: 498 | ISBN: 10: 3319445545

This book compiles solutions of linear theory of elasticity problems for isotropic and anisotropic bodies with sharp and rounded notches. It contains an overview of established and recent achievements, and presents the authors’ original solutions in the field considered with extensive discussion. The volume demonstrates through numerous, useful examples the effectiveness of singular integral equations for obtaining exact solutions of boundary problems of the theory of elasticity for bodies with cracks and notches. Incorporating analytical and numerical solutions of the problems of stress concentrations in solid bodies with crack-like defects, this volume is ideal for scientists and PhD students dealing with the problems of theory of elasticity and fracture mechanics.
