Structural Modeling, Analysis, and Design for Communication Towers

STAAD(X).Tower provides the comprehensive analysis and design of monopoles, self-supporting and guyed communication towers through physical modeling and parametric tools, ensuring minimum user interaction.

STAAD(X) Tower V8i SELECT series 3 has been released and available for download from SELECT Services. Built on the STAAD(X) platform, it has been enhanced with the automatic wind load generation of discrete appurtenances per EIA/TIA-222-F and TIA-222-G standard for both monopole and self-supporting tower modules. The section configuration concept for geometry generation is introduced in the self-supporting tower module. Additional new features included enhanced panel geometry generation of self-supporting towers, wind load generation for self-supporting towers (3-leg and 4-leg) per both EIA/TIA-222-F and TIA-222-G standards for panel and section configuration, revised bracing patterns include redundant members, hip bracing members, feedlines inside monopoles, and member design calculations for self-supporting towers per both EIA/TIA-222-F and TIA-222-G standards.

This manual provides practical and up-to-date information on various aspects of timber construction and covers the fundamentals of drawing and drafting practices, connections and fastening and structural detailing of various timber elements. The types of structures covered represent the bulk of the typical fabricator's work in timber structures such as buildings, bridges, grid-works, shells, folded plates, etc. Some examples of timber detailing in CAD form are also included. The book is liberally illustrated with line drawings and many detailing sheets, the latter linked to international codes of practice.

It is with great pleasure that we, the organising committee of ASEC 2012, on behalf of the Structural College Board, Engineers Australia, invite you to attend ASEC 2012 international Conference to be held in Perth, Western Australia, from 11th July - 13th July 2012.

The Australasian Structural Engineering Conference (ASEC 2012) will attract a diverse range of civil and structural engineering practitioners, students, academia and industry for this exceptional event on the Australian engineering calendar.

The theme for the 2012 international conference is Structural Engineering in Context (Past - Present - Future). This theme will be an opportunity to discuss historical methods and projects in addition to current practice and future trends. Australian and International Keynote speakers will take delegates on a Structural journey through time.

Industry will have the opportunity to present innovative recent projects that will provide delegates with inspirational topics to discuss when networking with colleagues over morning tea, lunch or at the Conference Dinner.

The Conference is to be held at Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre and the Conference Dinner at the newly renovated Frasers Restaurant, overlooking the majestic Swan River and the beautiful city of Perth.

Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

Personal comment:
Worth reading if you're using Sap2000, Eurocode 8 and willing to do some hand calculation.

SUMMARY:
Based on the need for effective solutions of structures response to seismic loading, this thesis includes the theoretical background, and explanation of several methods. There are many theories in the community, but the ones chosen to be looked closer at here are Modal response spectrum analysis for symmetric and asymmetric plan structures, Modal Pushover Analysis for symmetric and asymmetric plan structures and Linear and Non-Linear Response History Analysis. The theory has been adapted from published papers and books on the topic.
The report is divided into three main sections, numerical methods for solving of dynamic problems, elastic analysis and inelastic analysis. The chapters on Elastic and Inelastic analysis are further divided into sections on symmetric and asymmetric plan.
Elastic analyses by hand calculations and SAP2000 have been performed on a 2D-frame, a SAP2000 Elastic Response spectrum analysis has been performed on a 3D-frame, and an inelastic modal pushover analysis in SAP2000 has been performed on a 2D frame.
The target for this inquiry is to discover advantages and disadvantages in the different methods and comparing them.
