After users post their threads, they only have limited time to edit them.

Why not allow user to edit them anytime they want?

What's the purpose to limit the edit time?

E.g. I reply this thread
Code:
***************************************
Content of this section is hidden, You must be registered and activate your account to see this content. See this link to read how you can remove this limitation:

http://forum.civilea.com/thread-27464.html
***************************************

but forget to use
Quote:
Code:

***************************************

Now I can't edit my posts because the edit time limited, although I want to .
[/code]I might get a warning because some Admin or Admin Deputy might think I didn't follow the rules.

Dear netsonicyxf,

You are user since Jan 2010, you have a lot of warnings for not following the rules.
You should read the rules, understand them, ask questions if you don't, read the manual made by Grunf.
After all that you may start making posts according to rules.
Write the post have a look at it, click the preview button, check if it's according to rules, if it's in the right section, and after click the final post button.
Use the edit option only if there's a mistake or you forgot something.

The purpose to limit the edit time is quite simple:
1) You are responsible for what you write, share here. This responsibility is enforced by the limit in editing time. So what you write stays until deleted by forum staff or scripts.
If you write bad things they stay, if you write good things they stay.

2) Changing a post will not notify users that already red it the first time.
See this posts of my own:
Code:
***************************************
Content of this section is hidden, You must be registered and activate your account to see this content. See this link to read how you can remove this limitation:

http://forum.civilea.com/thread-27464.html
***************************************
Although as a moderator I can edit Post: #5 and correct my engineering mistake even now; It is not right for those who have already red it. And so there's post #6 which fixes the engineering mistake. So editing is not ethical or the right thing for others.

3) Users receive thanks/agree or even points for what they write. If they change what they wrote the agree/thanks or points should be canceled. This is not ok for a forum which grows by non editable contents.

4) ... other I don't see.
Regards
