Plastic Design and Second-Order Analysis of Steel Frames, 1st Ed
Posted by: bigone - 02-04-2014, 09:12 AM - Forum: Analysis & Design - No Replies

Plastic Design and Second-Order Analysis of Steel Frames

Author: Wai-Fah Chen | Size: 14 MB | Format: PDF | Quality: Unspecified | Publisher: Springer; 1 edition (December 16, 1994) | Year: 1994 | pages: 509 pages | ISBN: ISBN-10: 0387943145 | ISBN-13: 978-0387943145 | Edition: 1

Plastic Design of Steel Frames assesses the current status and future direction of computer-based analyses of inelastic strength and stability for direct frame design. It shows how design rules are used in practical frame design and provides an introduction to the second-order theory of inelastic frame design.
The book includes two computer programs on a diskette: one for the first-order analyses and the other for the second-order plastic hinge analysis of planar frame design. The second-order program can be used to predict realistic strengths and stabilities of planar frames, thereby eliminating the tedious task of estimating factors for individual member capacity checks. Both programs include clear input instructions. The diskette also contains the Fortran source-code listing for the second-order plastic-hinge analysis, enabling the user to customize the program. The programs will run on an IBM PC-AT or equivalent machine with 640 kB of memory and 30 MB hard drive.

ACI 440.7R-10 Guide for Design & Construction of Externally Bonded FRP Systems for Strengthening Unreinforced Masonry Structures

Author: ACI Committee 440 | Size: 34.41 MB | Format: PDF | Quality: Image PDF | Publisher: ACI | Year: 2010 | pages: 46 | ISBN: 9780870313738

Fiber-reinforced polymers (FRPs) have been proposed for use instead of steel prestressing tendons in concrete structures. The promise of FRP materials lies in their high-strength, lightweight, non corroding, nonconducting, and nonmagnetic properties.

This document offers general information on the history and use of FRP for prestressing applications and a description of the material properties of FRP. The document focuses on the current state of design, development, and research needed to characterize and ensure the performance of FRP as prestressing reinforcement in concrete structures.

The proposed guidelines are based on the knowledge gained from worldwide experimental research, analytical work, and field applications of FRPs used as prestressed reinforcement. The current development includes a basic understanding of flexure and axial prestressed members, FRP shear reinforcement, bond of FRP tendons, and unbonded or external FRP tendons for prestressing applications. The document concludes with a description of research needs.
Contents:

Chapter 1—Introduction
Chapter 2—FRP tendons and anchorages,
Chapter 3—Flexural design

Chapter 6—Bond and development
Chapter 7—Unbonded and external tendon systems
Chapter 8—Pile driving and in-place flexure,
