  Structural Design of Power House
Posted by: pelon2040 - 01-19-2014, 02:39 AM - Forum: Archive - No Replies

Hi CivilEA friends,

I would like to know if anybody has information or guidance in order to stablish the structural design of Power house.

What effect has the turbines (Pelton or Francis) in the structural design? Vibrations? Displacements?

I suppose the best way to design this is through FEM. Must I load the turbine area with some harmonic load simulating the turbine's vibration?

What software do you recommend?

Last thing, some guidance how to design the mobil crane and the rails in the power house in order to lift the turbines?

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards.

I appreciate either comments, books, articles, papers, analysis files or other source.

  Suggestion for Journal Reviews Section
Posted by: frankgron - 01-15-2014, 04:19 AM - Forum: Archive - Replies (2)

I think it might be a good idea to set up a section for suggested reviews for people submitting their research to the journals. It would help many out to get an easier review process, more would get published, and the site would get more content.

  A Modern Course in Aeroelasticity

A Modern Course in Aeroelasticity

Author: E.H. Dowell; Edward F. Crawley; Howard C. Curtiss Jr.; David A. Peters;Robert H. Scanlan; Fernando Sisto | Size: 21,8 MB | Format: PDF | Quality: Original preprint | Publisher: Solid Mechanics and Its Applications | Year: 2005 | pages: 770 | ISBN: 1-4020-2106-2

Aeroelasticity is the study of flexible structures situated in a flowing fluid. Its modern origins are in the field of aerospace engineering, but it has now expanded to include phenomena arising in other fields such as bioengineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering and nuclear engineering. The present volume is a teaching text for a first, and possibly second, course in aeroelasticity. It will also be useful as a reference source on the fundamentals of the subject for practitioners. In this third edition, several chapters have been revised and three new chapters added. The latter include a brief introduction to `Experimental Aeroelasticity', an overview of a frontier of research `Nonlinear Aeroelasticity', and the first connected, authoritative account of `Aeroelastic Control' in book form.
The authors are drawn from a range of fields including aerospace engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, rotorcraft and turbomachinery. Each author is a leading expert in the subject of his chapter and has many years of experience in consulting, research and teaching.
