Urban Structure in Hot Arid Environments: Strategies for Sustainable Development (The Urban Book Series)

Author(s)/Editor(s): by Mahmoud Tavassoli | Size: 22 MB | Format: PDF | Quality: Unspecified | Publisher: springer | Year: 2016 | pages: 241 | ISBN: 331939097X

This essential reference guide to strategies and solutions for urban planning in hot arid environments reflects the journey toward many cities, towns and villages in Iran, which are documented and presented in the form of case studies and comparative analysis. It is the outcome of extensive research on the influence of historical, cultural and climatic factors on urban spatial forms and rural complexes in Iran’s Hot Arid Zone.

The environment of the Hot Arid Zone offers valuable insights into how to overcome historical difficulties, how to endure harsh climatic conditions, how to be innovative and creative in responding to problems in new ways, and how to utilize natural energy sources. Considerable attention is given to the recognition of values, current problems and the renewal of traditional fabrics, urban blocks and traditional buildings. Important aspects in both academic education and in the urban design profession include traditional urban structures and traditional approaches to using natural energy as a creative process that is continuously changing and renews itself over time – a dynamic characteristic from which we can glean many lessons for the future.

Computer Simulation of Polymeric Materials: Applications of the OCTA System
Posted by: TAFATNEB - 11-26-2016, 05:53 PM - Forum: Mechanics & Material Technology (Elasticity, Plasticity and Nonlinearity) - Replies (1)

Computer Simulation of Polymeric Materials: Applications of the OCTA System

Author(s)/Editor(s): Japan Association for Chemical Innovation | Size: 19 MB | Format: PDF | Quality: Unspecified | Publisher: SPRINGER | Year: 2016 | pages: 400 | ISBN: 9811008140

This book is the first to introduce a mesoscale polymer simulation system called OCTA. With its name derived from "Open Computational Tool for Advanced material technology," OCTA is a unique software product, available without charge, that was developed in a project funded by Japanese government. OCTA contains a series of simulation programs focused on mesoscale simulation of the soft matter COGNAC, SUSHI, PASTA, NAPLES, MUFFIN, and KAPSEL. When mesoscale polymer simulation is performed, one may encounter many difficulties that this book will help to overcome. The book not only introduces the theoretical background and functions of each simulation engine, it also provides many examples of the practical applications of the OCTA system. Those examples include predicting mechanical properties of plastic and rubber, morphology formation of polymer blends and composites, the micelle structure of surfactants, and optical properties of polymer films. This volume is strongly recommended as a valuable resource for both academic and industrial researchers who work in polymer simulation.

Medicine for Masterseries & Tekla Structural Designer
Posted by: hmwere - 11-24-2016, 05:36 AM - Forum: Free Discussion - No Replies

Dear CivilEAns,
Unless otherwise, I have opened up this thread on the above two very important software especially for those designing structures to either British or Euro codes of practice.

I need guidance from the concerned CivilEAns on what could be the hiccup restricting the possibility of developing medicine for Masterseries and Tekla Structural Designer software. May be, by this, we could put our heads together and too enjoy just like the rest of CSI, Autodesk, and Bentley and part of Tekla users.

Please lets have a free discussion here for the benefit of all concerned users of the above two software.

Note:

1) The last working medicine of Masterseries is that of April 2011. A lot has evolved in the software since then.

2) That of TSD had a decomposition problem during analysis.

Please help...

Regards
