For the sake of discussion I would like to start a thread talking about the advantages of Midas Gen over Etabs or Etabs over Midas Gen.
The very reason that arises my curiosity is that why a consulting firm like Thornton Tomasetti would use Midas Gen in designing the kingdom tower if they have been using CSI product for more than 30 years. My speculations are the following.
a. Midas Gen has a very strong and thight integration with Midas GTS which is very powerful program for raft piled foundation.
b. Midas Gen has very reliable feature in column shortening analysis which would yield accurate prediction of elastic and long term shortening upon actual monitoring and test by Midas.
I have more to add but would like to hear other users view. When I say users those users that actually use both programs in actual production environment in other words real projects.

Describes the sand foundry, the characteristics of molding sand, the types of mold and pattern making equipment, and the various sand casting procedures for forming metals.
This book provides a great overview of producing green sand castings. It is interesting both from a historical perspective and a hobbyist perspective. Industrial foundrymen may find a few tricks that are useful.

An English version of the “Technical Standards and Commnetaries for Port and Harbour Facilities in Japan” covering the principal parts of the Japanese Standards which came into effect in the year 2007 under the Port and Harbour Act was translated and published by the Overseas Coastal Area Development Institute of Japan (OCDI) in October 2009.
Main Contents:
•Principle of Performance-based Design Method
•Meteorology and Oceanography ( Winds, Tides, Waves, Tsunamis, etc.)
•Natural Conditions ( Soils, Earthquakes, Dynamic Analysis, Ground Liquefaction, Environment, etc.)
•Materials ( Steel, Concrete, Stone, Recycle Materials, etc.)
•Foundations ( Shallow, Deep, Pile, Soil Improvement, etc.)
•Waterways and Basins(Dimension of channel, etc.)
•Protective Facilities for Harbors ( Gravity-type, Pile-Type, Wave-absorbing Caisson Type, etc. )
•Mooring Facilities ( Gravity-type, Sheet Pile, Piled Pier, Cellular -bulkhead, etc.)
•Port Transportation Facilities ( Road, Tunnel, Bridge, etc.)
•Cargo Sorting Facilities ( Cargo Handling Equipment, etc.)
•Storage Facilities ( Warehouses, Open Storage Yards, etc.)
•Other Facilities ( Waste Disposal Site, Beach, etc.)
A distinguishing feature of this Technical Standards is the adoption of the performance-based design method conforming to WTO required ISO 2394, ISO 23469 and ISO 21650 as opposed to the previously applied specification-based design method.
The Technical Standards contains state-of-the-art technology indicated above among others is believed to be an indispensable publication for engineers in charge of design, construction and maintenance of port and Harbour facilities as well as persons engaging in port management and operation.

This guide presents worked examples using the design provisions in ACI 318 Appendix D. Not all conditions are covered in these examples. The essentials of direct tension, direct shear, combined tension and shear, and the common situation of eccentric shear, as in a bracket or corbel, are presented.

This standard prescribes testing and evaluation requirements for post-installed adhesive anchor systems intended for use in concrete under the provisions of ACI 318. Criteria are separately prescribed to determine the suitability of adhesive anchors used in uncracked concrete only, or in both cracked and uncracked concrete. Criteria are prescribed to determine the design parameters and performance category for adhesive anchors. Included are assessments of the adhesive anchor system for bond strength, reliability, service conditions, and quality control. Special inspection (13.3) is required during anchor installation as noted in 10.22.
