info:
This Code of Practice provides guidelines for the professionals and practitioners on design,
analysis and construction of foundations. It was prepared by the Drafting Committee for the
Code of Practice for Foundations convened by the Buildings Department.
This Code of Practice is based on the requirements of the Buildings Ordinance and related
regulations, and has taken into account the local conditions, work practice and development
of new technologies in analysis, design and construction of foundations.
Although this Code of Practice is not a statutory document, the compliance with the
requirements of this Code of Practice is deemed to satisfy the relevant provisions of the
Buildings Ordinance and related regulations.
The contributions and efforts given by the invited members of the Drafting Committee in the
preparation of this Code of Practice are greatly appreciated.

CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OF EARTHQUAKE ENGINEERING

What does structural and earthquake engineering have in common with the ballet? Ashraf Habibullah. Ashraf is the Founder and President of Computers & Structures, Inc. (CSI), the global leader in software for structural and earthquake engineering. He’s also President of the Board of Directors of the critically acclaimed Diablo Ballet. The link between Ashraf’s two passions makes complete sense, as he explains in “100 Years Of Earthquake Engineering”.

Engineering Couses - Video/WEB Course

info:

Probably, this is the best link that I saw this year! (engineering courses related).
Show us how India invest in education (good quality education!) Theres more them 350 hour of engineering courses/web equivalent, someones as same level as post-graduating courses!

The main objective of NPTEL program is to enhance the quality of engineering education in the country [India] by developing curriculum based video and web courses. This is being carried out by seven IITs and IISc Bangalore as a collaborative project. In the first phase of the project, supplementary content for 129 web courses in engineering/science and humanities have been developed. Each course contains materials that can be covered in depth in 40 or more lecture hours. In addition, 110 courses have been developed in video format, with each course comprising of approximately 40 or more one-hour lectures. In the next phase other premier institutions are also likely to participate in content creation.

WORKSHOP ON TALL BUILDING DESIGN AND ANALYSIS ISSUES

info:
The purpose of the Workshop on Tall Building Seismic Design and Analysis
Issues was to solicit the opinions and collective recommendations of leading
practitioners, regulators, and researchers actively involved in design,
permitting, and construction of tall buildings. The outcome of this workshop
is a prioritized list of the most important tall building modeling and
acceptance criteria issues needing resolution, based on the discussion of the
multi-disciplinary stakeholders in attendance. This list will be used as the
basis for future work in developing recommended guidelines for tall building
design as part of the PEER Tall Buildings Initiative.
