PRECAST CONCRETE STRUCTURES

By
Kim Elliott, Department of Civil Engineering, University of Nottingham, UK

Description
'Precast Concrete Structures' introduces the subject in detail looking at the design process, manufacture and construction using precast concrete for multi-storey buildings. Detailed structural analysis of the material and its use is provided. The theory is supported by practical case studies and worked examples. There are explanatory illustrations throughout. Endorsed by the British Precast Concrete Federation and written by an acknowledged authority, this is the first book to explain and educate the student in the uses and advantages of precast concrete.

Contents
What is precast concrete;
Materials used in precast structures;
Precast frame analysis;
Precast concrete floors;
Precast concrete beams;
Columns and shear walls;
Horizontal floor diaphragms;
Joints and connections;
Beam and column connections;
Ties in precast concrete structures.

  Elastoplasticity Theory

Elastoplasticity Theory

[Image: 09244521045780890768.jpg]

[Image: info.png]
Authors: Vlado A. Lubarda
Edition: Illustrated
Publisher: CRC Press, 2002
ISBN: 0849311381, 9780849311383
Length 628 pages
Pdf: 3.5 Mb
Pdf Quality Condition: 9 points (over 10)

Understanding the elastoplastic deformation of metals and geomaterials, including the constitutive description of the materials and analysis of structure undergoing plastic deformation, is an essential part of the background required by mechanical, civil, and geotechnical engineers as well as materials scientists. However, most books address the subject at a introductory level and within the infinitesimal strain context.Elastoplasticity Theory takes a different approach in an advanced treatment presented entirely within the framework of finite deformation. This comprehensive, self-contained text includes an introduction to nonlinear continuum mechanics and nonlinear elasticity. In addition to in-depth analysis of the mathematical and physical theories of plasticity, it furnishes an up-to-date look at contemporary topics, such as plastic stability and localization, monocrystalline plasticity, micro-to-macro transition, and polycrysalline plasticity models.Elastoplasticity Theory reflects recent trends and advances made in the theory of plasticity over the last four decades. It will not only help stimulate further research in the field, but will enable its readers to confidently select the appropriate constitutive models for the materials or structural members relevant to their own applications.

Autodesk Algor Simulation Professional v2011 Englishl

[Image: info.png]
Autodesk® Algor® Simulation software, part of the Autodesk® solution for Digital Prototyping, provides a range of mechanical simulation tools to help designers and engineers make decisions earlier in the design process. Support for multi-CAD environments and extensive finite element modeling tools help manufacturers study initial design intent and accurately predict product performance. Autodesk Algor Simulation allows you to validate and optimize designs before manufacturing—increasing efficiency, minimizing reliance on physical prototypes, reducing costs, and decreasing errors.

* CAD support—Direct, associative data exchange with most CAD software.
* Modeling and meshing—Create finite element models and meshes using tools and wizards designed to improve productivity and simulation accuracy.
* Static stress and linear dynamics—Study structural response of designs.
* Mechanical event simulation—Enhance design decisions by using multibody dynamics with support for large-scale motion, large deformation, and large strain with body-to-body contact.
* Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation—Study thermal characteristics of designs and perform accurate, detailed fluid flow analysis.
* Multiphysics—Study multiple physical factors acting simultaneously by combining results from different analysis types.

Concrete Admixtures Handbook; Properties, Science and Technology

[Image: info.png]
Since the publication of the first edition, significant developments have occurred in the use of admixtures in concrete. Eight new chapters and a full update of the preceding 10 chapters bring this book up to date; reflecting the relative advances made in the science and technology of different groups of admixtures.

The increased role and development of admixtures in concrete technology is evidenced by a number of conferences, publications, and novel admixtures available in the market place. These developments in the field caused the modification of many chapters in the First Edition in order to reflect the advances. Although individual chapters refer to standards and specifications of admixtures, those only interested in the standards or techniques used in investigating admixtures will find the second chapter (Research Technologies, Standards, and Specifications) useful.

Admixtures are not as inert as may be presumed. They may chemically interact with the constituents of concrete and affect the properties of the fresh and hardened concrete and its durability. The third chapter deals with these aspects. It was important to devote a chapter to recent attempts in developing new admixtures.
