STAAD.foundation is standalone software with more than 50 different design modules and 5 different international codes. It is cost-saving downstream application that also enables engineers to analyze and design the underlying foundation for the structure they created in STAAD.Pro. STAAD.foundation can automatically absorb the geometry, loads and results from a STAAD.Pro model and accurately design isolated or combined footings, true mat foundations and even perform pile cap arrangements. Data from other superstructure analysis design packages can be imported to STAAD.foundation through Microsoft Excel.

STAAD.foundation V8i SELECT series 2 (Release 5.1) is finally released. This version is a major update on version 5.0 and specially focused on plant foundations.
Plant foundation mode has been revisited and enhanced to align the work flow with the practical needs of practicing engineers. Detailed drawings are updated with customizable drawing notes

"Bearing capacity factor table" is introduced to apply load combination dependent bearing capacity. For instance most code allows 33% increase of bearing capacity for temporary load cases like wind load or seismic load. This table is mandatory for some codes like Canadian code where soil pressure check is done for both un-factored and factored load combinations. The same table can be used to factor bearing capacity for factored load combination.
"Ribbed Beam" foundation is added in toolkit mode. This is a special type of foundation where a beam is connected between two columns of a combined footing and is a popular foundation type in India as it saves concrete.
Load combination generation table is added for all supported country codes.
