Abstract :

This paper presents some aspect of design and construction of bored pile foundation in Malaysia. Empirical equations correlating the value of the ultimate shaft resistance (fsu) and the ultimate base resistance (fbu) to SPT 'N' values are suggested as design of bored piles under axial compression in Malaysia is usually based on the SPT, Which is extensively carried out at site. Some aspects of design and construction in difficult ground conditions such as limestone areas and soft ground are presented together with some suggestions on quality control for bored pile construction.
