RAM Connection, a flexible and powerful program for analysis and design of steel connection for W, HSS and similar sections.
This software offers the best flexibility for the design of different shear, moment, braces, splices and base plates connection types. It is based on the AISC, ASD and LRFD codes, and the British Standard.
The standalone version works independently of any other software.
The connections can be designed in three different ways in RAM Connection Standalone (RCSA).
The first method can be called trial and error, in which the user defines a database with all the different connections (notice that several connections are already provided by the software) and assign them, to the joint, one by one. The software will indicate if the connection assigned is adequate or not. If the connection is not adequate, the user can assign manually another connection or adjust the initial one in such a way that fulfills all the requirements.
The second method consists in making the program search in a list of the connections database until it founds a connection that works well in the joint (according to geometry and loads).
The third method is similar to the second but instead of searching in a pre-defined list the software assigns a smart connection that adapts to the joint. In these connections, the design is automatically where the parameters of the connections (e.g. bolt number, weld size, plate size, etc) are adjusted until the connection fulfills the requirements.

RAM Connection v8.0 Release Notes – Updated August 2012
Enhancements
AISC Design Guide 16 now allows for thin plate behavior on end plates, plus the ability to specify flushed end plates (not only extended per DG 4) and multiple rows of bolts.
Metal building connections for frames with tapered members (rafters and/or columns) per AISC 360 and Design Guide 25. These include knee (beam-to-column), splice and ridge connections. Base plates for tapered columns coming soon!
Portal frame connections for frames using rafters with haunches. The design can be carried out per AISC 360 or BS 5950. These include eave, splice and apex connections.
New column stiffener configurations.
Added support for Canadian steel sections.
Structural Synchronizer V8i (ISM) v3.0 compatible (only available in the RAM Connection for RAM Elements mode now):
a. Feature additions (gusset plates, base plates, end plates and stiffeners)
b. Connection tags
Resolved Issues
Member incompatibility warnings have been enriched substantially. His has been accomplished in three ways:
a. A bug was inadvertently introduced in v7.3.2 that triggered the majority of these warnings. That has been fixed.
b. Others are now handled automatically by the software and thus, disappeared, not shown anymore.
c. The rest, 100% valid, are now explained more clearly in the design report.

RAM Connection V9.0 Release notes
Enhancements

ANSI/AISC 360-10 Specification for Structural Steel Buildings.
ANSI/AISC 341-10 Seismic Provisions for Structural Steel Buildings
ANSI/AISC 358-10 with ANSI/AISC 358s1-11 Prequalified Connections for Special and Intermediate Steel Moment Frames for Seismic Applications with 2011 Supp. No. 1
GB 50017-2003 Code for Design of Steel Structures.
Brand new and modern user interface for the Connection Pad.
RAM Connection for RAM Structural System can now be launched within RAM Manager.
Bentley Trust Licensing has been implemented. Thanks to Trust Licensing, users can always access the software they need to get their work done. It lets users access software whenever they need it, even if a license is not available.
Tapered columns are now allowed in base plate connections.
Flange plate connections now handle minor axis moments (M22) besides the major axis moment (M33).
Gusset plates keep their dimensions when switching from Automatic configuration to Manual.
European steel sections added to the database.
The assignment time
Resolved Issues

The MEP beam splice had a section depth validation problem that has been corrected.
There was a crash in certain instances when selecting the Results report for MEP with DG16 as some distances were not correctly initialized. This has been fixed.
The minimum cope depth in double angle connections was calculated to a greater value than the maximum cope depth, this occurs when the beam depth is too small to support the appropriate notches. A warning has been added when the cope dimensions are out of the standard practice.
The gusset length for CBB connections without a beam (“K” type) in the Manual option had a problem. This was solved and now the Manual option works correctly as well as the Automatic one.
In MEP connections, the thick plate behavior for the column flange was being printed in the wrong report section. The report was re-organized to have the end plate and column flange thick plate behavior checks together.
The distance from the connector to the top of the beam flange was miscalculated for gusset connections. The Data report now shows the location of the gusset connector relative to the beam top flange.
There was a problem in the base plate analysis for when no anchors were defined. The analysis now handles zero anchors.
Gusset base plates were being assigned to joints with braces framing from perpendicular directions. The braces have to be in the same plane (either X or Z) for this connection to work correctly. As this was not a valid joint, now this is not possible.
In some instances, different strength ratios were shown for thumbnail and the Design report in RAM Connection Standalone. This has been corrected.

RAM Connection V9.1 Release Notes
Updated June 2014

Enhancements

ACI 318-11 Appendix D update for anchor design in base plates.
Base plate assignment and design speed has been increased remarkably.
Option to include the footing/pedestal reinforcement in the anchor design per ACI 318-11 D.5.2.9 (tension) and D.6.2.9 (shear).
Option to include friction effects (base plate against concrete) in anchor shear resistance per AISC Design Guide 1 section 3.5.1.
The anchor bolts database can now be edited by the user, just like the regular bolts database.
Resolved Issues

The correct design code is now being reported in the design reports. Version 9.0 had this mishap inadvertently.
Shear rupture is no longer checked for beams with no copes.
Through plate connections now check compression buckling for long plates and eccentricity is properly calculated for bolts and welds.
Connection IDs and Descriptions are no longer missing in the report.
Shear lug dimensions were not being displayed correctly in the DXF view.
Splice plates were not drawing one plate only when the single plate option was being checked in the Connection Pad.
The slip coefficient µ for Class A surfaces was using the AISC 360-05 value (0.35), even when AISC 360-10 (0.30) was being selected. This has now been fixed.

Thank you for the hint. I think that the provided link needs a password for the creation of the download link.

Also, is there any place to download the above trial version because I didn't find any download trial section in Bentley site
