Author: R.L. CHAUHAN | Size: 3.11 MB | Format: PDF | Year: 2010-2011 | pages: 96
The objective of this study is to investigate the buckling behavior of cold formed steel lipped channel columns. Specific objective of study is to check effectiveness of current Indian standard prequalified section database.
Literature study exposes a lack of understanding of this subject. Computational modeling using finite strip method has been carried out along with experimental verification. The finite strip models were used to generate additional database required for parametric study on buckling behavior of cold-formed steel lipped channel sections. Results of parametric study were used to understand various buckling modes.
At the end of the study, some limits to geometric parameter are suggested in order to delay local and distortional buckling of cold-formed steel lipped channel in compression.
