Rigid Finite Element Method in Analysis of Dynamics of Offshore Structures

Author: Edmund Wittbrodt, Marek Szczotka | Size: 7.2 MB | Format: PDF | Quality: Unspecified | Publisher: Springer | Year: 2013 | pages: 290 | ISBN: 3642298850

This book describes new methods developed for modelling dynamics of machines commonly used in the offshore industry. These methods are based both on the rigid finite element method, used for the description of link deformations, and on homogeneous transformations and joint coordinates, which is applied to the modelling of multibody system dynamics. In this monograph, the bases of the rigid finite element method and homogeneous transformations are introduced. Selected models for modelling dynamics of offshore devices are then verified both by using commercial software, based on the finite element method, as well as by using additional methods. Examples of mathematical models of offshore machines, such as a gantry crane for Blowout-Preventer (BOP) valve block transportation, a pedestal crane with shock absorber, and pipe laying machinery are presented. Selected problems of control in offshore machinery as well as dynamic optimization in device control are also discussed. Additionally, numerical simulations of pipe-laying operations taking active reel drive into account are shown.

Dear All,

I am in need of the following thesis for my thesis work in progress:

Wang J. Experiment and analysis of near-fault seismic isolation using sliding bearing with variable curvature (in
Chinese). Master’s Thesis, National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology, Kaohsiung, Taiwan,
2006.

I could not find it. Can somebody please share it.
Or how can I find the one who did this thesis.

Thanks in advance.

Advances in Dynamic Network Modeling in Complex Transportation Systems

Advances in Dynamic Network Modeling in Complex Transportation Systems

Author: Satish V. Ukkusuri, Kaan Ozbay | Size: 6 MB | Format: PDF | Quality: Unspecified | Publisher: Springer | Year: 2013 | pages: 340 | ISBN: 1461462428

This edited book focuses on recent developments in Dynamic Network Modeling, including aspects of route guidance and traffic control as they relate to transportation systems and other complex infrastructure networks. Dynamic Network Modeling is generally understood to be the mathematical modeling of time-varying vehicular flows on networks in a fashion that is consistent with established traffic flow theory and travel demand theory.

Dynamic Network Modeling as a field has grown over the last thirty years, with contributions from various scholars all over the field. The basic problem which many scholars in this area have focused on is related to the analysis and prediction of traffic flows satisfying notions of equilibrium when flows are changing over time. In addition, recent research has also focused on integrating dynamic equilibrium with traffic control and other mechanism designs such as congestion pricing and network design. Recently, advances in sensor deployment, availability of GPS-enabled vehicular data and social media data have rapidly contributed to better understanding and estimating the traffic network states and have contributed to new research problems which advance previous models in dynamic modeling.

A recent National Science Foundation workshop on “Dynamic Route Guidance and Traffic Control” was organized in June 2010 at Rutgers University by Prof. Kaan Ozbay, Prof. Satish Ukkusuri , Prof. Hani Nassif, and Professor Pushkin Kachroo. This workshop brought together experts in this area from universities, industry and federal/state agencies to present recent findings in this area. Various topics were presented at the workshop including dynamic traffic assignment, traffic flow modeling, network control, complex systems, mobile sensor deployment, intelligent traffic systems and data collection issues. This book is motivated by the research presented at this workshop and the discussions that followed.

WS SAFE Footings Ver 1.0 Oct 2013

There are two main steps to create and finalize a SAFE model:-

1_Modelling & preliminary sizes
2_Readjustment of sizes and getting the results

This tool does the first step.
I am working on the second step! It will be available in a week! keep checking!

space truss design calculations

INTRODUCTION
Trusses are triangular frame works in which the members are subjected to essentially axial
forces due to externally applied load. They may be plane trusses [Fig. 1(a)], wherein the
external load and the members lie in the same plane or space trusses [Fig. 1(b)], in which
members are oriented in three dimensions in space and loads may also act in any direction.
Trusses are frequently used to span long lengths in the place of solid web girders and such
trusses are also referred to as lattice girders.
