Construct Based on work undertaken at the European Concrete Building Project, this guide examines the operations relating to formwork and falsework, including early striking and backpropping. Generic types of formwork and falsework were monitored during use and the guide incorporates the findings of this on-site research. A major finding was that whatever the system used, the greatest potential for increased safety and economies lies at the conceptual design stage. With temporary works accounting for some 30% of the total cost of a concrete frame, the savings can be considerable.
