(Post Edited)

info:
Summary

The range of fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) applications in new construction, and in the retrofitting of existing civil engineering infrastructure, is continuing to grow worldwide. Furthermore, this progress is being matched by advancing research into all aspects of analysis and design. The Second International Conference on FRP Composites in Civil Engineering (CICE 2004) provided an international forum for the scientific community to exchange ideas and develop future directions in this rapidly developing field.

The papers included in these proceedings cover a wide range of FRP applications in civil engineering and represent the contributions from nine keynote speakers, four invited speakers and over a hundred contributed papers, from over twenty countries.

Mohammad A Malek, "Pressure Relief Devices"
MgH | 2005 | ISBN: 007145537X | 475 pages | PDF | 4,2 MB

Within the boiler, piping and pressure vessel industry, pressure relief devices are considered one of the most important safety components. These Devices are literally the last line of defense against catastrophic failure or even lose of life. Written in plain language, this fifth book in the ASME Simplified series addresses the various codes and recommended standards of practice for the maintenance and continued operations of pressure relief valves as specified by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the American Petroleum Institute. Covered in this book are: preventive maintenance procedures, methods for evaluation of mechanical components and accepted methods for cleaning, adjusting and lubricating various components to assure continued operation and speed performance as well as procedures for recording and evaluating these items.

Art and Architecture in Medieval France: Medieval Architecture, Sculpture, Stained Glass, Manuscripts, the Art of the Church Treasuries

Publisher: Harper and Row | ISBN: 0064300226 | edition 1972 | PDF | 432 pages | 78 mb
This is an English-language study on the architecture and art of medieval France of the Romanesque and Gothic periods, approximately 1000 - 1500. In addition to essays on individual monuments there are general discussions of given periods and specific problems such as: why did Gothic come into being? Whitney Stoddard explores the interrelationship between all forms of medieval ecclesiastical art and characterization of the Gothic cathedral, which he believes to have an almost metaphysical basis.

In the last decade and, in particular in recent years, the macroscopic porous media theory has made decisive progress concerning the fundamentals of the theory and the development of mathematical models in various fields of engineering and biomechanics. This progress attracted some attention and therefore conferences devoted almost exlusively to the macrosopic porous media theory have been organized in order to collect all findings, to present new results, and to discuss new trends. Also in national and international journals a great number of important contributions have been published which has brought the porous media theory, in some parts, to a close. Therefore, the time seems to be ripe to review the state of the art and to show new trends in the continuum mechanical treatment of saturated and unsaturated capillary and non-capillary porous solids.
This book addresses post-graduate students, scientists, working in engineering, physics and mathematicians. It provides an outline of modern theory of porous media and shows some trends in theory and in applications.

Durability of Building and Construction Sealants and Adhesives

[Image: umx24p6rx42rra25d54m.jpg]

info:

* Publisher: ASTM International
* Number Of Pages: 118
* Publication Date: 2006-01
* ISBN-10 / ASIN: 0803134142
* ISBN-13 / EAN: 9780803134140

This publication, Durability of Building and Construction Sealants and Adhesives, contains papers presented at the second symposium of the same name held in Reno, Nevada, on 15-16 June, 2005. The symposium was sponsored by the ASTM International Committee C24 on Building Seals and Sealants. The symposium chairman was Andreas T. Wolf of Dow Coming GmbH, Wiesbaden, Germany.

Twelve peer-reviewed papers cover the latest information, gained from laboratory research and field work, on sealant and adhesive durability and the development of new products and test methods. Topics cover:

Factors Influencing the Durability of Sealed Joints and Adhesive Fixations—these factors include reducing modulus of sealants; calculating differential thermal movement in insulating glass edge seals using finite element analysis; and reducing tin and aminosilane concentration in silicon elastomeric coating

Durability Studies of Sealants and Adhesives—papers discuss the weatherability and durability of one-component sealants; durability of silane curable organic sealants; and durability of two-sided SSG curtain walls under cyclic racking displacements
Development of New Test Methods and Performance Based Specifications—standards development proposals include a practical method to evaluate the fatigue properties of structural silicone glazing adhesives; a novel testing method to study weatherability of construction sealants; the use of optical imaging and an image analysis system to assess surface changes induced in sealants by outdoor weathering; and much more.
