The manufacturing industry currently employs a wide variety of welding processes. The main technological process applied in the production of weldments is fusion welding. Presenting the latest research on the topic, Surface Phenomena in Fusion Welding Processes is a cutting-edge and comprehensive book that details the various courses of action that occur during welding procedures. It explains established regularities that are useful in the development of processes; details the formation of defects, allowing for an understanding of the role of surface properties and surface phenomena during the formation of defects; and describes welding in space, elucidating the determination role of surface phenomena in that environment. The text also contains 217 figures, 29 tables, and 336 equations to provide the reader with a better understanding of the various processes. In the development of welding technologies, as well as welding consumables, it is essential to know and to take into account both the surface properties of the applied materials and the surface phenomena that affect the boundaries of contacting phases. Surface Phenomena in Fusion Welding Processes presents this knowledge in a thorough and accessible manner, making it the ideal reference for practical and scientific specialists in the fields of welding and metallurgy.

Arc welding is one of the key processes in industrial manufacturing, with welders using two types of processes - gas metal arc welding (GMAW) and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). This new book provides a survey-oriented account of the modeling, sensing, and automatic control of the GMAW process.
Researchers are presented with the most recent information in the areas of modeling, sensing and automatic control of the GMAW process, collecting a number of original research results on the topic from the authors and colleagues.
Providing an overview of a variety of topics, this book looks at the classification of various welding processes; the modeling aspects of GMAW; physics of welding; metal transfer characteristics; weld pool geometry; process voltages and variables; power supplies; sensing (sensors for arc length, weld penetration control, weld pool geometry, using optical and intelligent sensors); control techniques of PI, PID, multivariable control, adaptive control, and intelligent control. Finally, the book illustrates a case study presented by the authors and their students at Idaho State University, in collaboration with researchers at the Idaho National Engineering and Environment Laboratory.

Can anybody recommend a good software for the analysis of columns/beams using strain compatibility? It would be good if the software would be able to explicitly display the stress/strain in the reinforcing bars. I am currently using BIAX; however, it's really not user friendly so a replacement would help.
