  just a statement

Just a thought that states my attitude to structural engineering and civil engineering

There are two ways to study a natural problem: they are the purely scientific and engineer way. The way of pure science is only interested in getting the truth. In this way there is only one answer, the real, no matter how long it takes to achieve it. For the engineer there are many possible answers, when all they are compromises between truth and time, because the engineer must have an answer in time. Your answer should be sufficient for a certain purpose, although not strictly true. Therefore the engineer must make assumptions, these assumptions that in some cases are not strictly correct, but nevertheless possible to obtain an adequate response to the real immediate purpose.
The structural engineering is therefore the art of using materials whose properties can only be estimated, to build real structures, which can only be approximately analyzed in order to resist the actions that are not sufficiently known, so that our responsibility to public safety is met.
In short, if an individual has five minutes to solve a problem whose life depends on its resolution, the same individual should spend three minutes to study and understand the problem and two minutes to solve it. "

The Brooklyn Bridge (Building America: Then and Now)
Publisher: Chelsea House Publications | ISBN: 1604130733 | edition 2009 | PDF | 120 pages | 5,3 mb

Opened on May 24, 1883, the Brooklyn Bridge is widely considered the greatest engineering achievement of the 19th century. This vision of designer John Augustus Roebling would be the longest bridge ever built at the time. During the 30-year construction period, the project withstood city politics, numerous construction conundrums and accidents, and the death of Roebling. Standing as a prime example of American technological and architectural progress, this iconic suspension bridge remains one of the world's most recognized structures. Built to link Manhattan and Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Bridge remains the most popular bridge in New York, open to pedestrians and motorists alike. Today, more than 160,000 people cross the bridge every day.

search engine

info:
I think the search engine in the forum have little problem.
I attached the search result of "materials for engineering" book, so many pages came out but same title of the book is not in first page of the result.
Of course we will check only the first, second or up to third pages, so we thought that book is not yet posted.
You can check the screen shoot below. The book with same title was in the 5th page and the total pages of search result is 22 pages.
If the same title of the book you searching, it must come at least in the first page.
I hope admin can do something about this one if he have time.
