The Aboveground Steel Storage Tank Handbook
Publisher: Wiley | ISBN: 047128629X | edition 1995 | PDF | 350 pages | 50,7 mb

The U.S. market for ASTs approached $2.0 billion in 1995 as underground tanks that have caused groundwater contamination are replaced with ASTs. All those who must wade through the maze of AST compliance paperwork will find this handbook a comprehensive single-source reference guide. Four easy-to-understand sections include markets, regulations, manufacturing standards, and products. Conclusive guidance to new and existing field-erected and shop-built products with installation instructions. Comprehensive appendices compile manufacturers, trade associations, codes, sizing calculations, and tank data sheets.

Design of Electrical Services for Buildings - Barrie Rigby

Design of Electrical Services for Buildings - Barrie Rigby

PDF : 4.9 Mb
Pages : 318

From the user’s point of view the electricity service in a building consists of light switches, sockets, clock connectors, cooker control units and similar outlets. Such fittings are collectively known as accessories; this name came about because they are accessory to the wiring, which is the main substance of the installation from the designer’s and installer’s point of view. To them, the way the outlets are served is the major interest, but it is quite secondary to the user who is concerned only with the appearance and function of the outlet. In the complete electrical installation of a building the wiring and accessories are interdependent and neither can be fully understood without the other; a start has to be made somewhere however, and in this book it is proposed to consider accessories first.

Computational Plasticity

Computational Plasticity
Eugenio Onate, Roger Owen,
Springer | 2007 | ISBN: 1402065760 | 268 pages | PDF | 6,9 MB

Despite the apparent activity in the field, the ever increasing rate of development of new engineering materials required to meet advanced technological needs poses fresh challenges in the field of constitutive modelling. The complex behaviour of such materials demands a closer interaction between numerical analysts and material scientists in order to produce thermodynamically consistent models which provide a response in keeping with fundamental micromechanical principles and experimental observations. This necessity for collaboration is further highlighted by the continuing remarkable developments in computer hardware which makes the numerical simulation of complex deformation responses increasingly possible.

This book contains 14 invited contributions written by distinguished authors who participated in the VIII International Conference on Computational Plasticity held at CIMNE/UPC from 5-8 September 2005, Barcelona, Spain. The meeting was one of the Thematic Conferences of the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences.

The different chapters of this book present recent progress and future research directions in the field of computational plasticity. A common line of many contributions is that a stronger interaction between the phenomenological and micromechanical modelling of plasticity behaviour is apparent and the use of inverse identification techniques is also more prominent. The development of adaptive strategies for plasticity problems continues to be a challenging goal, while it is interesting to note the permanence of element modelling as a research issue. Industrial forming processes, geomechanics, steel and concrete structures form the core of the applications of the different numerical methods presented in the book.

Fluid Dynamics: Theory, Computation, and Numerical Simulation

Fluid Dynamics: Theory, Computation, and Numerical Simulation
Publisher: Springer | ISBN: 0792373510 | edition 2001 | PDF | 557 pages | 14,7 mb

Fluid Dynamics: Theory, Computation, and Numerical Simulation is the only available book that extends the classical field of fluid dynamics into the realm of scientific computing in a way that is both comprehensive and accessible to the beginner. The theory of fluid dynamics, and the implementation of solution procedures into numerical algorithms, are discussed hand-in-hand and with reference to computer programming. This book serves as an introductory course in fluid mechanics, covering traditional topics in a way that unifies theory, computation, computer programming, and numerical simulation. The approach is truly introductory, in the sense that few prerequisites are required. The audience includes not only advanced undergraduate and entry-level graduate students, but also a broad class of scientists and engineers with a general interest in scientific computing.
