Stefan Hiermaier (ed.) "Predictive Modeling of Dynamic Processes"

Predictive Modeling of Dynamic Processes provides an overview of numerical simulation technology, applicable to a variety of industries and areas of engineering design. Covering automotive crash, blast, impact, and hypervelocity impact phenomena, this volume offers readers an in-depth explanation of the simulation potential for research and development. Chapters include informative introductions to each topic, and explain the specific requirements pertaining to a predictive numerical methodology.

Successfully blending basics of material modeling, crash simulation and impact engineering, this volume fills a gap in the current competing literature available.

Posted by: techno - 06-26-2010, 08:14 AM - Forum: Archive Problem - Replies (5)

Hello to all civilea members,
I'm looking for some orion expert to guide me.

After i run the analysis and then beam design (batch mode) to design all beams and some of the beams failed (with a red cross). So, once i double the failed beam, i have got 2 types of message.

a) RHS Analysis Moment and momenit calculated using the diagrams not matching.

b) "Axial Tension force exceed", "Beam Minor Bending exceeded", beam Minor Shear Exceeded".

Any suggestion regarding these 2 problems?

I really need some opinions about it.

  SUBSEA TUNNELS

SUBSEA TUNNELS

Going underground in the sense of rock engineering has proven to be well suited for many purposes. The publications of NFF has covered aspects like oil & gas, storage, hydro power, sports facilities, road and rail tunnelling and more. Safety, technical solutions and best economy are some of the reasons behind the subsurface projects. Even in scarcely populated Norway, space is becoming a valuable resource forcing limitations on urban expansion. The environment needs to be protected and the aesthetics considered.
For subsea road tunnelling, though, the situation is somewhat different. Topographical features and a policy of efficient utilisation of the coastline are important reasons for the numerous Norwegian projects in this sector.
Close to thirty subsea road projects were successfully finished. Plans for new projects are abundantly available, some of these with tunnel lengths and depths far beyond the achievements of today.
The engineers have, through a century of underground space application, gained wide experience in underground construction for most utilisation purposes. An able workforce adds to the valuable assets of the society.
We hope this publication can be a useful tool for colleagues and a constructive contribution towards an ever more improved use of the underground.
