  Guidelines for Guardrail Implementation
Posted by: mahyarov - 10-23-2012, 05:05 PM - Forum: Traffic Engineering - No Replies

Guidelines for Guardrail Implementation

Author: Sicking, Dean L | Size: 1.95 MB | Format: PDF | Quality: Original preprint | Publisher: Transportation Research Board | Year: 2009 | pages: 38 | ISBN: 9780309117814

This report provides guidance on selecting the appropriate barrier performance level for the installation of longitudinal barriers. The report presents performance-level selection guidelines to help designers determine the most appropriate guardrail test level for any route. Further, site-specific guidelines not only identify what guardrail test level should be incorporated but also can be used to determine when guardrail use is not cost beneficial. Supplemental procedures for identifying appropriate guardrail test levels have also been developed. These procedures expand the applicability of the guardrail selection guidelines to many unusual hazards that cannot be included in development of general procedures. The report will be of particular interest to designers with responsibility for designing roadside safety features.

Procedures Guide for Right-of-Way Cost Estimation and Cost Management

Author: Anderson, Stuart D | Size: 6.97 MB | Format: PDF | Quality: Original preprint | Publisher: Transportation Research Board | Year: 2009 | pages: 226 | ISBN: 9780309117807

This procedures guide presents practical and effective approaches for developing right-of-way (ROW) cost estimates and for then tracking and managing ROW cost during all phases of project development, including planning, programming, and preliminary and final design. It is a resource for managers, practitioners, and decisionmakers interested in developing and managing realistic and accurate estimates of ROW cost from the earliest ROW cost estimate made during planning through to the management of ROW acquisition cost during final design.
