  Concrete Building Scheme Design Manual

Concrete Buildings Scheme Design Manual
to Eurocode 2

Size: 1.441 MB | Format: PDF | Quality: Unspecified | Publisher: The Concrete Centre | Year: 2009 | pages: 140 | ISBN: 9781904818885

[Image: 40930068292528341857.png]

The Institution of Structural Engineer’s Chartered Membership Examination is highly regarded both nationally and internationally and requires the candidate to rapidly justify their initial design concepts. This handbook is written specifically for those who are preparing to sit the examination, but it should also prove useful to all those involved in preparing outline and
scheme stage designs on a day-to-day basis.

How to use this handbook:
This handbook is laid out to reflect the examination questions; to date these have followed the same format.
Section 1 of the examination is the design appraisal and this is covered in Section 2, which provides essential information required to assist in answering this part of the examination.
Section 2 of the examination is divided into three parts; firstly (section 2c) there is the requirement to prepare sufficient calculations to establish the size and form of all the principal structural elements. Guidance is given in Section 3 of this handbook.
Section 2d requires the candidate to prepare plans, sections and elevations, including critical details, for estimating purposes; examples are given in Section 4. Finally section 2e requires detailed method statements and often an outline programmer to be prepared and this is covered in Section 5.
Readers should appreciate that this publication is written for the structural engineer practicing in the UK. Whilst many of the principles can be applied to structures around the world, it must be clearly understood that environmental and geographical factors encountered may be significantly different. It is also written with the design of building structures in mind rather than bridges or offshore structures. The requirements for question 8, structural dynamics, are not specifically covered.

Concise Eurocode 2

[Image: 88458160829355342444.jpg]

[Image: info.png]
The introduction of European standards to UK construction is a significant event as for the first time all design and construction codes within the EU will be harmonized. The ten design standards (Eurocodes) will affect all design and construction activities as current British Standards for structural design are due to be withdrawn in 2010.
The cement and concrete industry recognized the need to enable UK design professionals to use Eurocode 2, Design of concrete structures, quickly, effectively, efficiently and with confidence.
Supported by government, consultants and relevant industry bodies, the Concrete Industry Eurocode 2 Group (CIEG) was formed in 1999 and this Group has provided the guidance for a coordinated and collaborative approach to the introduction of Eurocode 2. As a result, a range of resources are being delivered by the concrete sector.
The aim of this publication, Concise Eurocode 2, is to distil from Eurocode 2 and other Eurocodes the material that is commonly used in the design of concrete framed buildings.

[Image: 51Y45DkBCjL.jpg]

info:
A practical guide to the maintenance of concrete structures, this book provides procedures for corrosion diagnosis and determining the appropriate methods for repair, as well as an economic model for on-site decision making. It includes new ways of protecting steel-reinforced bars and the latest methods for repairing them. The author explains the importance of implementing an integrity management system to provide for a comprehensive maintenance strategy and concludes with coverage of the traditional, time-tested, and advanced repair techniques. A special feature is a chapter focusing on the advance maintenance plan philosophy and risk-based maintenance for reinforced concrete structures.

Mechanics of Structural Elements (Foundations of Engineering Mechanics)

[Image: 92075737181787205869.jpg]

[Image: info.png]
By V. Slivker

* Publisher: Springer
* Number Of Pages: 815
* Publication Date: 2006-11-22
* ISBN-10 / ASIN: 3540447180
* ISBN-13 / EAN: 9783540447184

Product Description:
The book systematically presents variational principles and methods of analysis for applied elasticity and structural mechanics. The variational approach is used consistently for both, constructing numerical procedures and deriving basic governing equations of applied mechanics of solids; it is the derivation of equations where this approach is most powerful and best grounded by mathematics. The book is oriented towards experts in civil engineering, researchers, developers of software for mechanical strength, stability, and oscillation analysis; it can be used by practical engineers who employ software tools to do their job and who want to know more about the theoretical background of the strength analysis. The book will be useful to senior and postgraduate students of engineering, to professors of structural analysis at civil or mechanical engineering departments of technical universities.

[Image: attachment.php?aid=436]

INFO

Soil strength and slope stability
James Michael Duncan, Stephen Gailord Wright
Wiley & Sons, 2005
University of Michigan
ISBN 0471691631, 9780471691631
