Long Term Durability of Structural Materials

Long Term Durability of Structural Materials

J. Larsen-Basse: Long Term Durability of Structural Materials
Pages:312 | PDF | Elsevier Science; 1 edition (August 1, 2001) | ISBN 0080438903 | 15.23 MB

"Long Term Durability of Structural Materials" features proceedings of the workshop held at Berkeley, CA in October, 2000. It brought together engineers and scientists, who have received grants from the initiative NSF 98-42, to share their results on the study of long-term durability of materials and structures.

The major objective was to develop new methods for accelerated short-term laboratory or in-situ tests which allow accurate, reliable, predictions of the long-term performance of materials, machines and structures. To achieve this goal it was important to understand the fundamental nature of the deterioration and damage processes in materials and to develop innovative ways to model the behavior of these processes as they affect the life and long-term performance of components, machines and structures.

The researchers discussed their approach to include size effects in scaling up from laboratory specimens to actual structures. Accelerated testing and durability modeling techniques developed were validated by comparing their results with performance under actual operating conditions. The main mechanism of the deterioration discussed included environmental effects and/or exposure to loads, speeds and other operating conditions that are not fully anticipated in the original design. A broad range of deterioration damage, such as fatigue, overload, ultraviolet damage, corrosion, and wear was presented.

A broad range of materials of interest was also discussed, including the full spectrum of construction materials, metals, ceramics, polymers, composites, and coatings. Emphasis was placed on scale-dependence and history of fabrication on resulting mechanical behavior of materials.

Tensor Algebra and Tensor Analysis for Engineers
Posted by: babak - 11-18-2009, 04:14 AM - Forum: General Books - Replies (5)

Tensor Algebra and Tensor Analysis for Engineers

Mikhail Itskov, "Tensor Algebra and Tensor Analysis for Engineers"
Springer | 2007-03-22 | ISBN: 3540360468 | 244 pages | PDF | 1,2 MB

There is a large gap between the engineering course in tensor algebra on the one hand and the treatment of linear transformations within classical linear algebra on the other hand. The aim of the book is to bridge this gap by means of the consequent and fundamental exposition. The book is addressed primarily to engineering students with some initial knowledge of matrix algebra. Thereby the mathematical formalism is applied as far as it is absolutely necessary. Numerous exercises provided in the book are accompanied by solutions enabling an autonomous study. The last chapters of the book deal with modern developments in the theory of isotropic an anisotropic tensor functions and their applications to continuum mechanics and might therefore be of high interest for PhD-students and scientists working in this area.

In the last decades, the absolute notation for tensors has become widely accepted and is now a current state of the art for publications in solid and structural mechanics. This is opposed to a majority of books on tensor calculus referring to index notation. The latter one complicates the understanding of the matter especially for readers with initial knowledge. Thus, this book aims at being a modern textbook on tensor calculus for engineers in line with the contemporary way of scientific publications.

Durability of Composites for Civil Structural Applications
Publisher: CRC | Pages: 366 | 2007-08-02 | ISBN: 0849391091 | PDF | 5 MB

This comprehensive book on durability of FRP composites makes it easier for the practicing civil engineer and designer to use these materials on a routine basis. It addresses the current lack, or inaccessibility, of data related to the durability of these materials, a major obstacle to their widespread acceptance and implementation in civil infrastructure. The book will further the acceptance of composites for civil structural applications, by providing this source for practicing engineers, decision makers, and students involved in architectural engineering, construction and materials, disaster reduction, environmental engineering, maritime structural technology, transportation engineering and urban planning.

Basic Engineering Plasticity

Basic Engineering Plasticity: An Introduction with Engineering and Manufacturing Applications
Publisher: Butterworth | Pages: 528 | 2006-09-07 | ISBN 0750680253 | PDF | 34 MB

Plasticity is concerned with understanding the behavior of metals and alloys when loaded beyond the elastic limit, whether as a result of being shaped or as they are employed for load bearing structures. Basic Engineering Plasticity delivers a comprehensive and accessible introduction to the theories of plasticity. It draws upon numerical techniques and theoretical developments to support detailed examples of the application of plasticity theory. This blend of topics and supporting textbook features ensure that this introduction to the science of plasticity will be valuable for a wide range of mechanical and manufacturing engineering students and professionals.
· Brings together the elements of the mechanics of plasticity most pertinent to engineers, at both the micro- and macro-levels
· Covers the theory and application of topics such as Limit Analysis, Slip Line Field theory, Crystal Plasticity, Sheet and Bulk Metal Forming, as well as the use of Finite Element Analysis
· Clear and well-organized with extensive worked engineering application examples, end of chapter exercises and a separate worked solutions manual

Classical Mechanics - An undergraduate text
R. Douglas Gregory,
Cambridge University Press
2006
ISBN: 0521534097
608 pages
PDF 5 MB

Gregory's Classical Mechanics is a major new textbook for undergraduates in mathematics and physics. It is a thorough, self-contained and highly readable account of a subject many students find difficult. The author's clear and systematic style promotes a good understanding of the subject; each concept is motivated and illustrated by worked examples, while problem sets provide plenty of practice for understanding and technique. Computer assisted problems, some suitable for projects, are also included. The book is structured to make learning the subject easy; there is a natural progression from core topics to more advanced ones and hard topics are treated with particular care. A theme of the book is the importance of conservation principles. These appear first in vectorial mechanics where they are proved and applied to problem solving. They reappear in analytical mechanics, where they are shown to be related to symmetries of the Lagrangian, culminating in Noether's theorem.

Posted by: being - 11-17-2009, 07:17 PM - Forum: Non Engineering Software - Replies (2)

The best software i came across for maintainiing system in free and also upgraded free when online. please go to www.IOBit .com and download the latest copy of advance system care and then provide the key from the keymaker which i had provided in the below link. the diffrerence in free and pro is only that pro version means in which u will register by providing the key from key maker and in pro version u will get right for automatic scan and care. while if u use free than u have to scan manually so go for key maker and use pro version freely .
