Bulletin 70, Rockfill Dams with Concrete Facing, was published in 1989. Jorge
E. Hacelas and Alberto Marulanda on behalf of the Colombian Committee on Large Dams authored the Bulletin for the ICOLD Committee on Materials for Fill Dams. In addition to Bulletin 70, the following were the main sources for this update:
- Proceedings, Concrete Face Rockfill Dams, Design, Construction, and Performance, ASCE, Detroit, October 1985.
- Proceedings, International Symposium on High Earth-Rockfill Dams-Especially CFRD, Beijing, October 1993.
- Proceedings, Second Symposium on Concrete Face Rockfill Dams, Brazilian Committee on Dams, Florianopolis, Brazil, October 1999.
- CFRD 2000, Proceedings, International Symposium on Concrete Faced Rockfill Dams, Beijing, September 2000.
- J. Barry Cooke Volume, Concrete Face Rockfill Dams, Beijing, September 2000.
Following the 1985 symposium in Detroit, USA, and during the decade of the 1990s, the concrete face rockfill dam has become common. A cursory review of the listing of CFRDs in the appendix indicates the widespread use and popularity of this type of dam.
The updated Bulletin contains eleven chapters devoted to design concepts, analysis, foundation treatment, instrumentation, construction, and performance.
The work of the following authors is acknowledged :
Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, and 10 David E. Kleiner
Chapters 5 and 6 Jason E. Hedien
Chapters 7 and 9 Archie V. Sundaram and David E. Kleiner
Chapter 11 Carlos Jaramillo
Appendix J. Barry Cooke, Bayardo Materon
The Chairman, Alberto Marulanda, provided detailed review and many contributions to all chapters that added significantly to the bulletin. Special thanks to Jean-Pierre Tournier and Normand Beauséjour, from the Canadian Committee, for their technical clarifications and precisions made during the French translation of the bulletin.

Instructor Solutions - Statics and Strength of Materials for Architecture and Building Construction
Author: Barry S. Onouye, Kevin Kane | Size: 2 MB | Format:PDF | Quality:Unspecified | Publisher: Prentice Hall | Year: 2006 | pages: 197 | ISBN: 9780131185838
Taking a visually-oriented approach, "Statics and Strength of Materials for Architecture and Building Construction, Third Edition", presents basic structural concepts in an easily understood manner. The authors introduce structural theory without relying on calculus. Instead using building examples and illustrations to supplement the book and introduce mathematically based material in a non-threatening way. This edition features many fully-worked example problems, a new supplemental CD-ROM, a section on retaining walls and clearer connections between written and visual elements. Extensive treatment of load tracing (paths) in an organized and heavily illustrated manner. Includes a CD containing additional problems with solutions for further practice. New section discussing the basic principles of concrete retaining walls using free-body diagrams and the equations of equillibrium. Building inspectors or people training to become inspectors or plans checkers.

Author: CHARLES E. GERBER, BARRY B. FLACHSBART and JOHN W. FLANDERS | Size: 2 MB | Format:PDF | Quality:Unspecified | Publisher: Pergamon Press | Year: 1973 | pages: 17-38
Abstract-A tutorial survey directed to the practicing engineer who is interested in computerized techniques for static and dynamic structural analysis. The discussion is directed to the general questions which occur in the application of computer aided analysis. Consideration is given to structural modeling, input preparation procedures, solutions algorithms, numerical errors, and output interpretation. The emphasis is on large general purpose programs and on establishing a definition of the current state of the art.
