  Cementitious Grout Mixer
Posted by: visu_tce - 10-13-2009, 04:15 AM - Forum: Free Discussion - Replies (1)

Could anyone advice me on the suitable cementitious Grout Mixer product? I mean the best product that could be purchased in India or imported? The requirement is as follows :
1. It should have a Bulk silo attached to store the reasonable quantity.
2. It should be mobile in nature as we may need to shift it for some other projects.

  Modern Physics for Engineers

Modern Physics for Engineers

info:
Modern Physics for Engineers
Publisher: Wiley | ISBN: 0471330442 | edition 1999 | PDF | 400 pages | 22.15 MB

Over the last few years there have been several important changes in the undergraduate curricula in both Engineering and Physics departments. In engineering schools there is an increased emphasis on design type courses which squeeze the time students have for fundamental courses. In physics departments there is an increased need to make a stronger connection between the material studied and modern technological applications. This book is motivated by these changes.

  Cement Chemistry, Second edition

Cement Chemistry, Second edition

info:

H. F. W., Taylor, "Cement Chemistry, Second edition"
Thomas Telford Ltd | 1997 | ISBN: 0727725920 | 480 pages | PDF | 50,5 MB

H F W Taylor was for many years Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at he University of Aberdeen, Scotland. Since 1948, his main research interest has been the chemistry of cement. His early work laid the foundations of our understanding of the structure at the nanometre level of C-S-H, the principal product formed when cement is mixed with water, and the one mainly reponsible for its hardening. Subsequent studies took him into many additional aspects of the chemistry and materials science of cement and concrete. His work has been recognized by Fellowships and by other honours and awards from many scientific societies in the UK, USA and elsewhere. This second edition of Cement chemistry addresses the chemistry and materials science of the principal silicate and aluminate cements used in building and Civil engineering. Emphasis throughout is on the underlying science. The book deals more specifically with the chemistry of Portland cement manufacture and the nature of the resulting product, the processes that occur when this product is mixed with water, the nature of the hardened material, the chemistry of other types of hydraulic cement, and chemical and microstructural aspects of concrete, including processes that affect its durability. Since the first edition of this book was published in 1990, research throughout the world has greatly augmented our knowledge in all of hese areas. The present edition has been updated and revised to take account of these advances. The reader will acquire a solid understanding of the subject and will be better equipped to deal with the problems and pitfalls that can arise in engineering practice as a result of inadequate understanding of the relevant chemistry. It will serve both as an introduction to those entering the subject for the first time and as a guide to the latest developments for those already experienced in the field.

Computational Structural Engineering
Proceedings of the International Symposium on Computational Structural Engineering,
held in Shanghai, China, June 2224, 2009 By Yong Yuan, Junzhi Cui, Herbert A. Mang
Publisher: Springer 2009-07-09
1308 Pages
ISBN: 9048128218
PDF 23 MB

This volume presents selected edited papers given at the Symposium on Computational Structure Engineering (CSE 09) co-organized by Tongji University and Vienna University of Technology, held in Shanghai, 22-24 June, 2009.

Owing to great progress in computing technology, in computer as well as in programming technology, computation has become one of the most powerful tools for researchers and practicing engineers. It has led to tremendous achievements in computer-based structural engineering and there is evidence that this tendency will be accelerated.

In recent years, concepts of simulation of structural behavior, virtual reality, super-computing, and intelligence approaches reinforced the impact on processes of design, construction, and maintenance of structures. CSE 09 provided a forum for scientists, developers, and engineers to review novel research findings, to assess the suitability of new models, and to evaluate the robustness of advanced computational methods for investigation of the life-cycle of a structure.

The contributions of CSE 09 are presented in this book. It aims at providing a forum for presentation and discussion of state-of-the-art development in scientific computing applied to engineering sciences. Equal emphasis is given to basic methodologies, scientific development and engineering applications.

Spatial Variation of Seismic Ground Motions: Modeling and Engineering Applications

Spatial Variation of Seismic Ground Motions: Modeling and Engineering Applications

info:
Taking a multidisciplinary approach, this book provides coverage from seismological and engineering, deterministic and stochastic, as well as physical and mathematical points of view. The author describes the estimation of spatial variability from recorded data, its physical interpretation, and the development of spatial variability/coherency models. She uses random variation analysis to illustrate the effect of differential ground motions on the quasi-static and dynamic response of extended structures. Worked-out applications demonstrate the significance of seismic ground strains and differential motions on the seismic response of foundations, bridges, and dams.

  Area Objects in Sap2000
Posted by: anrk_sk8er - 10-12-2009, 06:53 PM - Forum: Archive Problem - Replies (5)

Hey people, i am trying to learn a little about this software, and i am getting a little confuse defining area objects

i dont know exactly the diference between the "shell", "plane", "asolid"

i really dont understand the options inside de shell

whats the differences between sheel thin/thick, plate thin/thick, membrane, and shell layered/nonlinear?

Plane is just used to model a state of stress or a state of strain in the program?

pls could anybody help me in understaing these differences?

info:
"Intelligent Freeway Transportation Systems: Functional Design" by Robert Gordon
Publisher: Springer | ISBN: 1441907327 | 2009 | PDF | 218 pages | 7 Mb

Product Description:
Intelligent Freeway Transportation Systems: Functional Design focuses on the efficient use of resources in the design of ITS. It discusses the principles of top down design starting with objectives and requirements, and provides guidance for the development and evaluation of functional design alternatives according to cost effectiveness principles. It shows how transportation planning principles such as Wardrop’s Laws and traffic diversion principles relate to functional ITS device selections and equipment locations. Methodologies for translating objectives to functional device types are provided. Application factors to identify device deployment densities (e.g. number of detectors per mile) as a function of traffic conditions are provided, as are evaluation models for evaluating the benefits of design alternatives based on traffic conditions. Design guidance and benefits evaluation include the following functions: (1) Non-recurrent congestion – Improvement of incident clearance time, (2) Non recurrent congestion – Incident information to motorists, (3) Recurrent congestion – Information to motorists, (4) Ramp metering, (5) Motorist service patrols.

Mary Brentwood, Stephen F. Robar - Managing Common Pool Groundwater Resources: An International Perspective
Publisher: Praeger Publishers | 2004-03-30 | ISBN: 0275957373 | PDF | 360 pages | 2.42 MB

Woldwide, developed and developing countries increasingly depend on groundwater resources for domestic water supply. Since groundwater is a hidden resource and individuals cannot see how much has been used and what is left, this book attempts to make global groundwater use more visible so that policy makers can make informed decisions as to its management. Organized into six geographical regions, the authors describe the various physical, cultural and institutional challenges of groundwater policy and management faced by countries worldwide. Analysis of the challenges and responses to groundwater management at the national level hopes to generate a broader understanding for societies across the globe.
