Engineering Properties of Soil and Rock

# Publisher: Wiley-Blackwell; 4 Sub edition (January 11, 2000)
# Language: English
# ISBN-10: 0632052058
# ISBN-13: 978-0632052059

Civil engineers, mining engineers and engineering geologists require a working knowledge of the engineering properties and behaviour of the different soil and rock types, and this is not provided in the standard texts on soil and on rock mechanics.

This book provides extensive data on individual soil and rock types and deals in some depth with their composition, texture, degree of weathering and presence of fissures or discontinuities. It also considers the description and classification of soils and rocks.

The Fourth Edition has been extensively revised and enlarged by fifty per cent, with four new chapters on

*Silts, Loess and Brickearth
*Igneous and Metamorphic Rock
*Arenaceous and Argillaceous Rocks and
* Carbonate and Evaporitic Rocks.

The latter three chapters deal not only with the geomechanical properties and behaviour of these rocks but also with their durability. The book also considers properties in terms of construction materials (e.g. building stone, bricks, aggregate) and mentions methods of dealing with problem soils, groundwater etc.

The book will be of particular value to professionals in geotechnical and geological engineering and also to senior students.

Drilled Shafts: Construction Procedures and LRFD Design Methods

This manual is intended to provide a technical resource for engineers responsible for the selection and design of drilled shaft foundations for transportation structures. It is used as the reference manual for use with the three-day National Highway Institute (NHI) training course No. 132014 on the subject, as well as the 10th in the series of FHWA Geotechnical Engineering Circulars (GEC). This manual also represents a major revision and update of the FHWA publication on drilled shaft foundations co-authored by the late Michael O’Neal and late Lymon C. Reese, published in 1988 and revised in 1999. This manual embraces both construction and design of drilled shafts, and addresses the following topics: applications of drilled shafts for transportation structure foundations; general requirements for subsurface investigations; construction means and methods; LRFD principles and overall design process; geotechnical design of drilled shafts for axial and lateral loading; extreme events including scour and earthquake; LRFD structure design; field loading tests; construction specifications; inspection and records; non-destructive integrity tests; remediation of deficient shafts; and cost estimation.
A comprehensive design example (Appendix A) is included to illustrate the step-by-step LRFD design process of drilled shafts as foundations for a highway bridge.

Bentley AutoPIPE v8i (SELECT series 1) Nuclear edition 09.02.03.02
Posted by: BennyP - 07-25-2010, 04:01 PM - Forum: Bentley Products - Replies (1)

Bentley AutoPIPE v8i (SELECT series 1) Nuclear edition 09.02.03.02

Bentley AutoPIPE is a stand-alone computer aided engineering (CAE) program for calculation of piping stresses, flange analysis, pipe support design, and equipment nozzle loading analysis under static and dynamic loading conditions. In addition to 24 piping codes, AutoPIPE incorporates ASME, British Standard, API, NEMA, ANSI, ASCE, AISC, UBC, and WRC guidelines and design limits to provide a comprehensive analysis of the entire system. AutoPIPE is available for Windows XP/Vista and can be licensed across networks.
There are three versions of AutoPIPE: Standard, Plus, and Nuclear. The Plus version offers several advanced analysis capabilities not available in the Standard version which are detailed later in this chapter. The Nuclear version offers all of the features of the Plus version with the addition of all the features for ASME class 1 design. A KHK2 Add-On option is also available for the Plus or Nuclear version that allows use of the Japanese KHK Level 2 piping code in addition to all the features of the Plus or Nuclear version. AutoPIPE is a proven, well established program which has been commercially available since 1986. AutoPIPE’s rigorous quality assurance practices have withstood numerous on-site audits, making AutoPIPE one of the few PC based piping programs approved for use in nuclear safety applications.

  STAAD Offshore 2.0.6.1
Posted by: BennyP - 07-25-2010, 03:54 PM - Forum: Bentley Products - No Replies

STAAD Offshore 2.0.6.1

STAAD.Offshore for use with STAAD.Pro. The program consists of a suite of pre and post analysis processing modules for structures modelled in the structural analysis and design program STAAD.Pro. The program is operated from a single interface from which the required modules can be set up and operated.
There are three primary modules to the STAAD.Offshore:

The Wave Load Module calculates wave loads on structures using either STREAM function, STOKES 5th Order Theory, AIRY theory, or a user defined grid wave. The program generates a STAAD.Pro loading data for the stiffness analysis.

The Transport Load Module calculates the inertia forces on a structure and generates the STAAD.Pro loading data for the stiffness analysis.

The Fatigue Module is a deterministic fatigue program to calculate the fatigue lives of tubular joints.

Select Bentley SELECT XM License.... when installing.

I received 1000 Days and i suppose is because one old dll from other medicine was present in my computer (IEGLicLib.dll) before (installing Autopipe with this dll - see Autopipe 09.02.03.02 or other Bentley using it and posted before).
