  Best geotechnical software
Posted by: freequo - 05-05-2011, 06:43 AM - Forum: Free Discussion - Replies (8)

Hello to all,
In the beginning I would like to apologize to moderators if this post isn't at the right place, and I would ask them to move it in the appropriate place.

I've posted similar post before in this forum, but now I would like to see your opinion about geotechnical software for FEA, like Geostudio, Plaxis, Geo5, TNO Diana, FLAC, Rocscience..., and non geotechnical like Abaqus, Ansys and FEMAP.
I would really appreciate your thinking and experience with any of this software.

Best regards
freequo

Complete set of RC drawings and plans for 3-story house ( 500 m2 )
Posted by: gargi - 05-05-2011, 01:20 AM - Forum: Autocad Structural Details - Replies (6)

There are complete set of RC drawings and plans for 3-story building.
The house is designed with respect on PBAB-87 ( code for RC structures) and PIOVS-81 ( code for seismic design ).
The numbers in code's name means the year they are employed in use.
The codes are very old and I will be thankful If you share your opinion
My country has seismic hazard 0.3g

Structural Load Determinations Under 2009 IBC and ASCE/SEI 7-05
Posted by: wafiullah - 05-04-2011, 07:13 PM - Forum: Archive - Replies (1)

Structural Load Determinations Under 2009 IBC and ASCE/SEI 7-05

Author: By David A. Fanella, Ph.D., S.E., P.E and co-branded by NCSEA. | Size: 0 MB | Format: PDF | Year: 2009 | ISBN: 9781580016643

The purpose of this publication is to assist in the proper determination of structural loads in accordance with the 2009 International Building Code (IBC) and ASCE/SEI 7-05, including dead load, occupancy live load, roof live load and environmental loads such as rain, snow, wind and seismic loads.

The load requirements of the 2009 IBC and ASCE/SEI 7-05 are presented in a straightforward manner with emphasis placed on the proper application of the provisions in everyday practice. Code provisions have been organized in comprehensive flowcharts, which provide a road map that guides the reader through the requirements. Included in the flowcharts are the applicable sections numbers and equation numbers from the 2009 IBC and ASCE/SEI 7-05 that pertain to the specific requirements. Numerous completely worked-out design examples are included in the chapters that illustrate the proper application of the code requirements. These examples follow the steps provided in the referenced flowcharts.

The content of this publication is an excellent resource for structural engineers, architects, plan reviewers and code officials who need to understand how to determine structural loads. (Soft-cover, approximately 345 pages) Published by the International Code Council.

Language: French, English, German
Package contain 8 pdf's of scanned books.
A few comments:
1. The first two volumes are NOT multi-lingual. The majority of the text in these 2 volumes is in French. All notations/labels for the images and photos are in French. Only the more extensive texts/essays are in German and English.
2. These appear to be straight reproductions of the original books, no reformatting has occurred. This may be a reason for the lower quality of the images/photos.
3. Great opportunity to see models/drawings of major unbuilt works - Governor's Palace in Chandigargh, Strasburg, Algiers, Venice, Geneva, etc. As well as paintings, le Modulor and other non-building works.

Dear members,

In the sentence: Concrete is composed of cement (7-14%, v/v),...
What does the v/v means? I don't want to traslate this wrong and with some of mine presumptions.

Thanks in advance,
