Product Description:

Wetland identification, although theoretically straightforward, is not cut and dry as a practice. Despite the time and expense, it is an economic and environmental necessity.
The Definitive Guide to the Practice of Wetland Identification
The second edition of the bestselling Practical Handbook for Wetland Identification and Delineation offers solutions to real-world problems in the scientific and regulatory aspects of wetlands. The authors present characteristics and indicators of wetlands that are the focus of the jurisdictional issue, and discuss strategies and methods for making wetland identifications and delineations that meet federal requirements.

Introduction to Modern Climate Change - by Andrew Dessler
Posted by: ska51 - 03-26-2012, 05:55 PM - Forum: Environmental Engineering - Replies (1)

Introduction to Modern Climate Change

Author: Andrew Dessler | Size: 4.0 MB | Format: PDF | Quality: Original preprint | Publisher: Cambridge University Press | Year: 2011 | pages: 252 | ISBN: 1107001897

Book Description:

This textbook is tightly focused on the problem of anthropogenic climate change. It is unique among textbooks on climate change in that it combines an introduction of the science with an introduction to the non-science issues such as the economic and policy options. Unlike more purely descriptive textbooks, it contains the quantitative depth that is necessary for an adequate understanding of the science of climate change. The goal of the book is for a student to leave the class ready to engage in the public policy debate on this issue. This is an invaluable textbook for any introductory survey course on the science and policy of climate change, for both non-science majors and introductory science students.

  Are premium sites allowed?
Posted by: ishvaaag - 03-26-2012, 09:10 AM - Forum: Archive - Replies (2)

Hi. I am noticing lately a growing number of posts that refer to premium sites for download, i.e., sites where one has to pay to get access to the material.

It is my understanding that this forum aims to the free distribution of materials in english language, and so those posts could be understood not complying with rule 14 of the forum, since not "public sharing" sites, and constituting some form of advertisement ("hey you could get that through a premium account") for those sites.

I endear the administrators to consider this question and effectively enforce free distribution only of materials through the forum, so that users will avoid wasting time organizing downloads going to nowhere.

Thank you for your attention.

Piled Raft Foundations for Tall Buildings
Posted by: aslam - 03-26-2012, 07:56 AM - Forum: Foundation & Geotechnics in general - Replies (3)

Piled Raft Foundations for Tall Buildings

Author: H.G. Poulos, J.C. Small and H. Chow | Size: 3.2 MB | Format: PDF | Quality: Unspecified | Publisher: Geotechnical Engineering Journal of the SEAGS & AGSSEA | Year: 2011 | pages: 7 | ISBN: -

Piled raft foundations are increasingly being recognised as an economical and effective foundation system for tall buildings.
This paper sets out some principles of design for such foundations, including design for the geotechnical ultimate limit state, the structural ultimate limit state and the serviceability limit state. The advantages of using a piled raft will then be described with respect to two cases: a small pile group subjected to lateral loading, and then the design of the Incheon Tower in South Korea. Attention will be focussed on the improvement in the foundation performance due to the raft being in contact with, and embedded within, the soil.
