Cohesive Sediments in Open Channels: Erosion, Transport and Deposition
Author: Emmanuel Partheniades
Publisher: Butterworth-Heinemann
ISBN: 1856175561 | edition 2009 | PDF | 384 pages | 3,9 mb

Control the impact of cohesive sediments on open channels by managing the effects of silt, clay and other sediments in harbors, estuaries and reservoirs. Cohesive Sediments in Open Channels provides you with a practical framework for understanding how cohesive sediments are transported, deposited and eroded. One of the first books to approach the subject from an engineering's perspective, this book supplies insight into applying hydraulic design as well as understanding the behavior of cohesive sediments in a flow field.

Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis 2011 bug
Posted by: RazvanMelek - 08-12-2010, 01:40 PM - Forum: Archive Problem - Replies (2)

I don't really know what is going on, but i can't seem to use library typical structures in autodesk robot structural analysis. When I select the type, for example, a predefined truss of some sort in the Typical Structures dialog I press OK and then a dialog appears that has some customisable parameters for the structure. After I finish and press OK it displays the following dialog "Errors in the file Do you want to see them?" and if I click on yes it displays the syntax for the library file used(in my case the 2D triangular truss). Can anybody please help me?I have been googling for a solution for days, you can say that I'm at wits end. :dash2:

  Groundwater Monitoring (Water Quality Measurements)

Groundwater Monitoring (Water Quality Measurements)

Groundwater Monitoring (Water Quality Measurements)
Authors: Dr. Anne Marie Fouillac, Mr. Johannes Grath, Dr. Rob Ward
Publisher: Wiley 2009-11-09 | 450 Pages | ISBN: 0470778091 | PDF | 4.7 MB

Groundwater is sometimes called “the hidden asset” – awareness of its existence and its importance is not well known and as a consequence the measures which are required to protect and manage it in an environmental sustainable way are either not taken or are taken too late. Where pollution has occurred and measures are taken too late it may take decades, or longer, until the necessary restoration of quality is achieved.

This comprehensive text presents in the following sections:

Groundwater monitoring in the regulatory and international context
Conceptual modelling and network design
Groundwater pollutants and other pressures
Groundwater quality standards and trend assessment
Case studies for groundwater assessment and monitoring in the light of EU legislation
Groundwater measurements
Associating external stakeholders

The editors have collected state-of-the-art information on groundwater quality assessment monitoring from the international community, providing further stimulation to the work of all parties involved in the challenges this area creates to ensure sound quality assessment of groundwater.

Statistical Framework for Recreational Water Quality Criteria and Monitoring (Statistics in Practice)

Statistical Framework for Recreational Water Quality Criteria and Monitoring (Statistics in Practice)
Author: Larry J. Wymer
Wiley-Interscience | 2007 | ISBN: 047003372X | 248 pages | PDF | 2,1 MB

With increasing rates of pollution to both land and aquatic environments, regulations for the quality of our waters are necessarily becoming more stringent. In the light of recent epidemiological studies new criteria are being established for the safety of our recreational waters. In order for such criteria to be developed an established statistical framework needs to be in place.

Statistical Framework for Recreational Water Quality Criteria and Monitoring offers a practical guide to the statistical methods used for assessing health effects and monitoring and modelling water quality Both traditional and novel sampling designs are discussed. Written by a team of international experts in the field, this book sets out to provide an essential structure for the monitoring of water quality.

· Proposes a much-needed framework for the monitoring of water quality, and provides practical guidance on the statistical methods involved.

· Covers risk characterization, empirical modelling, sensitivity analysis and measures of robustness.

· Details sampling methods and quality control approaches.

· Presents crucial, real-life results from recent large-scale studies of water quality, central to the development of the area.

· Accompanied by a supplementary website hosting data sets and tools for data analysis.

The book is primarily aimed at public health officials, staff of regulatory bodies and students and faculty members of environmental and statistical science courses. There is also much to benefit readers from environmental research and risk analysis.

David Banister, "Transport Planning, 2 Ed"
MgH | 2009 | ISBN: 0415261716 | 320 pages | PDF | 2 MB

Completely revised and restructured, the new edition of Transport Planning describes the evolution of transport policies and planning, linking the past with the contemporay and future debates.

A Retrospective Analysis describes the recent past and how the current situation in research and practice on transport planning has developed, including a new chapter on events since 1997, with the difficulties of finding the means to introduce the social market. The second part of the book begins with a Comparative Analysis of experience in three European countries (Germany, France and the Netherlands) and the United States. It covers both transport planning and evaluation, where different approaches have been developed in response to national policy issues and the different cultural and analytical traditions. The final part is a Prospective Analysis of the key issues facing transport planners in the twenty-first century.

Tracers in Hydrology
By Christian Leibundgut, Piotr Maloszewski, Christoph Kulls

Publisher: John Wiley & Sons, Inc., USA
Number Of Pages: 432
Publication Date: 2009-12-09
ISBN-10 / ASIN: 0470518855
ISBN-13 / EAN: 9780470518854
Size: 8 MB

Tracers in Hydrology and Water Research is a comprehensive overview of the application of natural and artificial tracers in hydrology and environmental research. Taking a unique approach by providing the reader with a systematic and state of the art description of natural and artificial tracers, the book also covers key analytical techniques and applications, and modern tracer methods in the context of systematic hydrology. Tracers have become a primary tool for process investigation, qualitative and quantitative system analysis and integrated resource management. This book will outline the fundamentals of the subject, and examine the latest research findings, clearly showing the entire process of tracer application through the inclusion of numerous integrated case studies.

As many techniques derive from different scientific disciplines (chemistry, biology, physics), the effort of compilation and integration into modern hydrology and environmental science research and application requires substantial continuity and experience, which certifies this group of authors.

This book will be an invaluable reference not only for students and researchers within the field of Hydrology and Hydrogeology but also for engineers and other tracer techniques applying users.
