Seismic Design and Assessment of Bridges: Inelastic Methods of Analysis and Case Studies
Author: Andreas J Kappos, M. Saiid Saiidi, M. Nuray Aydinoglu, Tatjana Isakovic | Size: 5.9 MB | Format:PDF | Quality:Unspecified | Publisher: Springer | Year: 2012 | pages: 233 | ISBN: 9789400739420
The book focuses on the use of inelastic analysis methods for the seismic assessment and design of bridges, for which the work carried out so far, albeit interesting and useful, is nevertheless clearly less than that for buildings. Although some valuable literature on the subject is currently available, the most advanced inelastic analysis methods that emerged during the last decade are currently found only in the specialised research-oriented literature, such as technical journals and conference proceedings. Hence the key objective of this book is two-fold, first to present all important methods belonging to the aforementioned category in a uniform and sufficient for their understanding and implementation length, and to provide also a critical perspective on them by including selected case-studies wherein more than one methods are applied to a specific bridge and by offering some critical comments on the limitations of the individual methods and on their relative efficiency. The book should be a valuable tool for both researchers and practicing engineers dealing with seismic design and assessment of bridges, by both making the methods and the analytical tools available for their implementation, and by assisting them to select the method that best suits the individual bridge projects that each engineer and/or researcher faces.

This innovative new book presents the vast historical sweep of engineering innovation and technological change to describe and illustrate engineering design and what conditions, events, cultural climates and personalities have brought it to its present state. Matthew Wells covers topics based on an examination of paradigm shifts, the contribution of individuals, important structures and influential disasters to show approaches to the modern concept of structure. By demonstrating the historical context of engineering, Wells has created a guide to design like no other, inspirational for both students and practitioners working in the fields of architecture and engineering.

Hi,
I want a guide for an website or any tool that can povide me with the record data of any or the most famous earthquakes, I want the record itself (i.e the time and ground acceleration values) not the accelerograph. thanks
please, you who have access to Structural Engineering and Mechanics, Techo Press (

10th CUEE Conference
March 1-2, 2013, Tokyo Institute of Technology
It is a signal pleasure to extend an invitation to our 10th International Conference on Urban Earthquake Engineering (10CUEE) to be held in Tokyo on March 1st and 2nd, 2013. The conference has been convened every March since 2004, under two consecutive five-year Center-of-Excellence (COE) programs headquartered at the Center for Urban Earthquake Engineering (CUEE) here at Tokyo Tech. Our current Global-COE program (August, 2008- March, 2013) is entitled International Urban Earthquake Engineering Center for Mitigating Seismic Mega Risk.
