This book reviews the development of research into the explosive loading of structures, mainly since the beginning of the twentieth century. Major contributions in the fields of measurement, analysis and prediction are discussed. Dynamic loading from conventional high explosives is examined, as well as the effects of liquid propellant, dust, gas, vapour, and fuel/air explosions. Subjects include blast in tunnels, underground and underwater explosions, pressure measurement and blast stimulation. Explosive effects on civil buildings, civil bridges, aircraft and ships are summarized, including the estimation of residual strength. The concluding passages refer to structural safety and reliability.

Design of Concrete Structures
by Arthur H Nilson, David Darwin, Charles W. Dolan, Arthur Nilson, Charles Dolan
Publisher: McGraw-Hill
13 edition (July 31, 2003)
896 Pages
ISBN: 0072921994; 0070598541
The 13th edition of the classic text, Design of Concrete Structures, is completely revised using the newly released 2002 American Concrete Institute (ACI) Code. This new edition has the same dual objectives as the previous editions: first to establish a firm understanding of the behavior of structural concrete, then to develop proficiency in the methods used in current design practice.
Design of Concrete Structures covers the behavior and design aspects of concrete and provides thoroughly updated examples and homework problems throughout. The 13th edition also features a new chapter, Chapter 10, covering strut-and-tie models. The text also presents the basic mechanics of structural concrete and methods for the design of individual members for bending, shear, torsion, and axial force, and provides detail in the various types of structural systems applications.

This document is a comprehensive design code for concrete. It is the result of a comprehensive revision to the original model code of 1978, which was produced jointly by the Comite Euro-International du Beton (CEB) and the Federation Internationale de la Precontrainte (FIP). Model Code 1990 has more detailed guidelines and explanations than national codes and can be used as a basis for them. It has already influenced the codification work that is being carried out both nationally and internationally and will continue to do so. With the publication of Eurocode 2: Part 1 as a draft pre-standard, this document is a useful reference during the consultative period before Eurocode 2 becomes a European standard. It may be of use to anyone involved in codification work on concrete.

The purpose of the book is to present the principles and practice of design for some of the main modern structures. It intended for final year degree students to show the application of structural engineering theory and so assist them to gain a appreciation of the problems involved in the design process in the limited time available in college. In such a presentation many topics cannot be covered in any great detail.

The study of buckling loads, which often hinges on numerical methods, is key in designing structural elements. But the need for analytical solutions in addition to numerical methods is what drove the creation of Exact Solutions for Buckling of Structural Members. It allows readers to assess the reliability and accuracy of solutions obtained by numerical methods. The author has attempted to gather and present as many exact buckling solutions as possible in one single volume for engineers and researchers. These buckling solutions of columns, beams, arches, ring plates and shells should serve as benchmarks for checking the validity, convergence and accuracy of numerical methods and solutions.

N.E. Shanmugam, C.M. Wang, "Analysis and Design of Plated Structures, Volume 1: Stability"
CRC | 2006 | ISBN: 0849395453 | 498 pages | PDF | 6,5 MB
Written by an international team of contributors and under the aegis of distinguished editors, Analysis and Design of Plated Structures: Volume 1: Stability reviews the wealth of research in this important area and its implications for design, safety, and maintenance. The book considers the various types of buckling that plated structures are likely to encounter and reviews buckling in a range of materials, from steel to various types of composites. The chapter authors discuss the behavior of differing type of components used in steel plated structures. These components include steel members and columns as well as curved, stiffened, corrugated, laminated, and other types of plate design.
