  Djvu Format Viewer
Posted by: Dell_Brett - 09-21-2009, 05:51 AM - Forum: Non Engineering Software - No Replies

Info:
Nowadays, we starts to find a .djvu format in documents files. It's quite equal PDF format, but lighter and small size file.

A free way to convert .djvu file to .pdf

A short guide on converting djvu file to acrobat format. Since djvu is not widely supported in portable devices such as pdas, such conversion will be essential. Here are the steps by making use of print function of the djvu viewer.

1- Download FreePDF here:

  Symplectic Elasticity

Symplectic Elasticity

info:
Weian Yao, Wanxie Zhong, Chee Wah Lim "Symplectic Elasticity"
World Scientific Publishing Company | English | 2009-02-26 | ISBN: 9812778705 | 316 pages | PDF | 3 MB

Solid mechanics problems have long been regarded as bottlenecks in the development of elasticity. In contrast to traditional solution methodologies, such as Timoshenko s theory of elasticity for which the main technique is the semi-inverse method, this book presents a new approach based on the Hamiltonian principle and the symplectic duality system where solutions are derived in a rational manner in the symplectic space. Departing from the conventional Euclidean space with one kind of variable, the symplectic space with dual variables thus provides a fundamental breakthrough.

This book explains the new solution methodology by discussing plane isotropic elasticity, multiple layered plate, anisotropic elasticity, sectorial plate and thin plate bending problems in some detail. A number of existing problems without analytical solutions within the framework of classical approaches are solved analytically using this symplectic approach. Symplectic methodologies can be applied not only to problems in elasticity, but also to other solid mechanics problems. In addition, it can also be extended to various engineering mechanics and mathematical physics fields, such as vibration, wave propagation, control theory, electromagnetism and quantum mechanics.

Contents: Mathematical Preliminaries; Fundamental Equations of Elasticity and Variational Principle; The Timoshenko Beam Theory and Its Extension; Plane Elasticity in Rectangular Coordinates; Plane Anisotropic Elasticity Problems; Saint Venant Problems for Laminated Composite Plates; Solutions for Plane Elasticity in Polar Coordinates; Hamiltonian System for Bending of Thin Plates.

  Bridge Rehabilitation Journal Request
Posted by: cocojo - 09-21-2009, 03:46 AM - Forum: Archive - No Replies

Hello my fellow civil engineers,

I hope you all are doing well.

I would like to request something I need for school.

I need a Journal or Magazine that describes the rehabilitation process of a deteriorated bridge. The text would have to explain in detail the problem with the bridge prior to the repair and how they reconstructed it. I have to write a 6 page paper in which I have to discuss the type of cracks, problems, difficulties encounter during the inspection. And how the engineer repaired these problems.

If anyone have such journal, could you please be kind enough to post it here or PM me. The longer the Journal or Magazine the better it is.

Thank you guys in advance.

Thin-Walled Composite Beams: Theory and Application
(Solid Mechanics and Its Applications)
Liviu Librescu, Ohseop Song,
Springer; 1st edition (March 22, 2006)

607 pages
PDF 11.20 MB

This is the first monograph devoted to the foundation of the theory of composite anisotropic thin-walled beams and to its applications in various problems involving the aeronautical/aerospace, helicopter, naval and mechanical structures.
Throughout the theoretical part, an effort was made to provide the treatment of the subject by using the equations of the 3-D elasticity theory.
Non-classical effects such as transverse shear, warping constraint, anisotropy of constituent materials yielding the coupling of twist-bending (lateral), bending (transversal)-extension have been included and their implications have been thoroughly analyzed.
Thermal effects have been included and in order to be able to circumvent their deleterious effects, functionally graded materials have been considered in their construction.
Implications of the application of the tailoring technique and of the active feedback control on free vibration, dynamic response, instability and aeroelasticity of such structures have been amply investigated.
Special care was exercised throughout this work to address and validate the adopted solution methodologies and the obtained results against those available in the literature and obtained via numerical or experimental means.
