  STAAD Steel Design Parameters
Posted by: syedmuzaffer - 11-03-2009, 07:50 AM - Forum: Archive Problem - Replies (4)

Hii friends,

I was designing steel structures using staad ,
I used both BS5950 and IS 800 LSD as the code.
There are a number of parameters in the steel design to BS or IS.
The explanation to them in Staad is not adequate, it would be wonderful if we share the knowledge we have of these parameters, their uses and references.
Thanks hoping for a positive responce

Advances in Transportation Geotechnics
Ed Ellis

ISBN: 0415475902
786 pages
PDF 17,9 MB

Highways provide the arteries of modern society. The interaction of road, rail and other transport infrastructure with the ground is unusually intimate, and thus needs to be well-understood to provide economic and reliable infrastructure for society. The challenges include not only the design of new infrastructure (often on problematic ground), but increasingly the management and maintenance of aging assets in the face of issues such as climate change. This book is the written record of the first International Conference on Transportation Geotechnics held under the auspices of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, held in Nottingham, UK, in 2008.It comprises about 100 papers from a global selection of researchers and practitioners on: slope instability, stabilisation, and asset management; construction on soft ground; interaction with structures and geogrid reinforced soil; effect of climate change and vegetation; highways, pavements and subgrade; railway geotechnics; soil improvement; and characterisation and recycling of geomaterials. A further part of this collection contains papers on unbound aggregate materials as used in pavement construction and drainage. They formed the "Unbound Aggregates in Roads (UNBAR7)" theme of the conference which followed on from the previous symposia of that title, also held in Nottingham, UK, most recently in 2004. The volume will be of interest to professionals and academics in geotechnical, highway, railway and general civil engineering.

Sealing is an age-old problem that dates back to our earliest attempts to create a more comfortable living environment. Prehistoric people used natural sealants such as earth, loam, grass, and reeds to protect the interior of their homes against the weather. Today’s applications extend to a myriad of uses. The Handbook of Sealant Technology provides an in-depth examination of sealants, reviewing their historical developments and fundamentals, adhesion theories and properties, and today’s wide range of applications.

Welding of Aluminium and Its Alloys by Gene Mathers (Repost)
Publisher: CRC Press | 2002-10-16 | ISBN: 0849315514 | 236 pages | PDF | 3.64 MB

The Welding of Aluminium and its Alloys provides a basic understanding of the metallurgic principles underpinning how alloys achieve their strength and how welding can effect their properties. A practical guide for the shop-floor engineer, the book covers weldability of aluminium alloys, process description, advantages, limitations, proposed weld parameters, health and safety issues, preparation for welding, quality assurance and quality control issues, and problem solving. The book covers parent metal storage and preparation prior to welding, describes the more frequently encountered processes, and presents recommendations on welding parameters that may be used as a starting point for the development of a viable welding procedure.

Providing hints and tips that help you avoid some of the pitfalls of welding these sometimes problematic materials, the book's content is both descriptive and qualitative. The Welding of Aluminium and its Alloys is a concise and effective reference for engineers who may have little prior understanding of metallurgy and only a brief acquaintance with the welding processes involved.

  Need solution

Hello guys,

Kindly have a look on the rough sketch of this municipal water supply pipe. The sump tank is 6 feet below ground level. I need to uplift the water to ground level ( so + 6 feet) by attaching another pipe to this municipal pipe. Of course without any pump. Is there any natural way? The pipe is on a natural slope of 2-3 deg which cannot be altered.

Kindly if anybody has any idea please share.

Regards,
