• Abstract: A new Linear Response History (LRH) analysis procedure has been approved for inclusion in the 2015 NEHRP Recommended Provisions, and will likely be included with some minor revisions in Chapter 12 of ASCE 7-16. The principal differences between the new procedure and the LRH procedure that is currently included in Chapter 16 of ASCE 7-10 are: 1) spectrum matched ground motions are required for seismic analysis, 2) the structure being analyzed is required to be modeled in three dimensions, 3) accidental torsion, where required, must be included in the analysis by offsetting the center of mass at each floor level, 4) P-Delta effects must be included directly in the analysis, and 5) peer review is not required. Additionally, requirements for scaling the results for consistency with the Equivalent Lateral Force seismic base shear demands are clarified.
