Yes, since there is a problem with your server, something must be done. I am really new, both in the forum and in the profession, and willing to contribute to your effort to keep the forum up and running. But the way I see it there are two options:
1) Deny access to any users you feel don't participate, thus reducing the "traffic" , or
2) Introduce a minimum fee for users (either paypal or what way you choose), to upgrade your equipment.
Declaring that inactive users are to be removed will make them eventually wake up and give something back, but the slow speeds won't go away. Sort of missing the point. It is either turning the forum into a business and keeping everyone onboard, or reducing it to a small private club, that will solve your problem, without having to spent your own resources.
I'm not annoyed in any way, just realistic.

Dear Admin I have some suggestions:
-Let new user to join.
-Within some specific time they have to earn specific points otherwise they will be warned and then wiped.
-with every warnings, point will be decreased.
-Many user download but dont give thanks, is it possible that with downloading automatically point will be added to the poster or uploader?
-Lots of books or softwares already have been uploaded, so we have to emphasys on any kind of engineering problem solution and special points should be on that.
-Which reply is effective and which not will be based on given thanks. A moderator's Thanks will bring more point then a semi active user, a semi active users Thanks more point than inactive user and so on.
-I saw some user proposed for certain types of payment from user, I strongly disagree with that, I fear this will destroy our forum. Instead limited Advertisement can be allowed , but this may attract attention to those company' whose software we use cr****d, so think about that.

Another thing, there may be option any body can voluntarily donate like Wikipedia. I believe there are large number of members who spends lots of their valuable time to this forum, they will also willingly donate to keep this forum alive.

I want to say something. For some inactive member, sometime it is hard for them to post some new materials because there are already so much materials on the site. If they are willing to share their problems or solutions or opinions, they are also welcomed. Due to everybody's limited knowledge, we shall not ask them to join most threads. If their opinion are helpful, we are still need them. If they just say such "thanks","good","no" ,and so on, these posts are just garbages. So it pose much work for the moderator to do to tell these apart.

Besides, I often stays in construction site. maybe there are no internet for me to access the site for a long time if the construction site is located in desert, so I hope the administrator can take my situation into accout.

I have fully aggred to moderator for activity of the members... but i have request to moderators that with slow speed of the internets and constraints we sometimes face difficulty to be much more active on the forum... the moment we visit it the important point on which we can contribute was gone from the main screen.. it is hard to find than to in to each thread ... though i am fully with moderators and dont demand any freedom for this execuse but just to express myself over here...

secondly in order to become active in the fourm i feel people start flooding with the contents and comments which may not be required and after some times we find that people start commenting which may not be worth to report as help to any problem...

I congratulates all the moderators and most active members for thaking this step in order to keep this forum simply the best... i am fully confident that our moderators will do fair deals with all our members..

Hello all.

First of all, I understand your server problems and I agree that you must do something to solve it, be it limitation of user registration, expelling inactive users, etc.
I really appreciate the work that is being done, but I just want to make a small remark: we are all pirates, taking advantage of the book and software developers' work, so there is no moral highground in anyone here, so the remarks about users that just scavange on other users work are really not necessary.
This is your house. Do what you need, what you want, what you feel is best for it. Just cut the crap. I won't justify why I don't post more.

I understand if there is lack of space on server and you have to delete some users, but I belive that this is no solution.
I tried to be active but I didin't have some opportunity. Since my registration I've manage to post only one post. For everything elese I tried to replay I got baned. Now, how could I become acitve.

This forum IS the best forum for civil engineering, and would like to help him to stay this way with all my knowledge.

I saw your warnings (you are now at 70% warning rate) and this is because you post thanks and spam. My opinion (and i told this many times) users downloading and not contributing if they don't disturb can use the forum. I'm for banning users poluting our forum with useless posts, copy paste links without using the post generator, thanks posters and users posting transparent links.

Dear friends I'm from India I am working as structural engineer in an architect's firm (i.e.I am doing a job ) .Whenever I get time from my job I always access to our forum, only on which I rely .I always get solutions from forum. So frequency of posting threads will be less. If does that mean we are inactive members,it will be very sad to us.Some times fresher may not know what to post & how to post so they can't. But if anyone misusing forum ,he shall be taken seriously.But if any one is following forum's rules I think he shall not be deleted.
