Plastic Design of Low Rise Frames

Author(s)/Editor(s): Michael Rex Horne, Linden J. Morris | Size: 89 MB | Format: PDF | Quality: Scanner | Publisher: GRANADA PUBLISHING | Year: 1981 | pages: 250 | ISBN: 978-0246111999

The technique of plastic design has many advantages over the traditional elastic design technique. The methodology was developed in large part by M. R. Horne and his co-workers, and first came into wide-spread practical application in Britain. With the publication of this book, American designers and engineers will be given easy access to the latest developments in the theory and practice of plastic design. The advantages of this technique for simple beam systems and single-story buildings are onsiderable: plastic design represents a more rational approach and the analysis can be  ccomplished quickly and directly, and it facilitates economies in the use of materials. Moreover, the methods can be readily extended to buildings that are several stories (four or five) high. The first chapter reviews the  undamental methods of plastic analysis. Following chapters take up such topics as plastic moment distribution, modifying factors in plastic bending, frame stability and deflections (including the destabilizing effects of column axial loads on frames), the rigid-plastic behavior of a frame, and the  lastic-plastic behavior of frames. A final chapter explains various practical  onsiderations, such as joint design and the stiffening effects of cladding. All the chapters are linked so that the flow of the presentation is even throughout. The book considers whole structures as well as the behavior of various elements. Numerous worked examples are presented, some of which are taken from actual designs. M. R. Horne is Beyer Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Manchester and author of Plastic Theory of Structures. L. J. Morris is a senior lecturer on the Manchester civil engineering faculty. The book is the second in the MIT Press Series in Structural Mechanics, edited by H. Max Irvine

  CSiXCAD v18

CSiXCAD 18 [No Medicince]

Size: 59.2 MB

CSiXCAD, from Computers and Structures, Inc., is a plug-in for Autodesk® AutoCAD® and Bricsys® BricsCAD® that facilitates documenting in AutoCAD and BricsCAD the design of building stuctures analyzed in ETABS® or SAP2000® and keeps track of design revisions.

CSiXCAD maintains a complete BIM model in the CAD software and can generate:

Floor Plans
Elevations
3D Models

In addition, with models designed in ETABS, CSiXCAD can generate:

Beam and Column Schedules
Beam Reinforcement Elevations
Wall Reinforcement Plans
Wall Reinforcement Elevations
Slab Reinforcement Plans

Data in the CSiXCAD BIM model is defined only once and any changes to a structural item in a drawing are reflected on all drawings where that item is shown.

CSiXCAD eliminates the need to manually transfer data and markups to CAD engineers and automatically generates an initial set of drawings that can then be customized and refined using CAD. When the engineer later makes changes to the original design model, CSiXCAD can compare the contents of its BIM model with the modified design model, and either import all changes or only selected changes. Previous edits made to the drawings in CSiXCAD are maintained, and a report listing the changes is generated.
