The French Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (CFMS) is most happy to host the 18th International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (18th ICSMGE) in Paris, France, from Monday 2 to Friday 6 September 2013.
The main theme of the Conference is “Challenges and Innovations in Geotechnics”.
The Conference will take place at the Paris International Conference Centre (Palais des Congrès) located at Porte Maillot, 1km West of the Arch of Triumph, very near the Champs-Elysées Avenue and the historical centre of Paris.
CFMS will do its best to organize a very successful conference and to offer to the delegates and accompanying persons an exciting and pleasant stay in Paris.
In agreement with ISSMGE President's vision for strengthening the role of the Technical Committees (TCs), the 18th ICSMGE Paris 2013 will have a new format.
As indicated in the preliminary program the two first days (Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 September), devoted to plenary sessions, will include the Terzaghi Oration by Suzanne Lacasse, as well as 7 ISSMGE Honour lectures proposed by the TCs (See Program/Hounour Lectures).
The two following days (Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 September), devoted to parallel sessions, will include the Discussion Sessions and the Workshops.
The Discussion Sessions are meant to discuss the papers sent to the Conference. It is planned to have 28 Discussion Sessions in total (of 1 ½ hour each with 1 General Report and the presentation of 6 selected papers). They will be managed by the TCs according to their subject area (see Program/Discussion Sessions).
The Workshops will have a free format. They correspond to requests made by the TCs themselves (it is anticipated to have some 20 such Workshops).
The technical visits, as well as other activities, will be organised on the last day (Friday 6 September).
More than 770 papers have been received from 70 Member Societies.
