  To Admin; how about..
Posted by: juice - 01-30-2009, 01:03 AM - Forum: Archive - Replies (5)

Hi Admin,

How about putting a sub-section of the forum regarding Tips (bugs, problems, useful tips) on ETABS, SAP2000, etc.

But limit it to serious (VIP) forum users--say those who really want to share their knowledge in structural engineering. Hopefully this will make your wonderful forum more wholesome to professional engineers (not just "pirates").

Published by CRC Press | Publication date : February 2003 | ISBN : 0849316839 | PDF | 453 pages | English | 18.06 MB

Mitigating the effects of earthquakes is crucial to bridge design. Comprising chapters culled from the acclaimed Bridge Engineering Handbook, this volume sets forth the principles and applications of seismic design, from the necessary geotechnical and dynamic analysis background to seismic isolation and energy dissipation, active control, and retrofit technology. In-depth discussions contributed by bridge and earthquake engineers from around the world cover the types and effects of earthquake damage, as well as structural performance criteria.

The book also includes an overview of seismic design practices in Japan, including a study of the damage to highway bridges caused by the Hyogo-ken Nanbu earthquake.

Product Description
This book includes many topics in the theory of structural dynamics and applications of this theory to earthquake analysis, response, and design of structures. No prior knowledge of structural dynamics is assumed. The presentation is sufficiently detailed and integrated to make the book suitable for self-study by interested parties, as well as, professional engineers.FEATURES: * Relates the structural idealizations studied to the properties of real structures. * Presents the theory of dynamic response of structures in a manner that emphasizes physical insight into the analytical procedures. * Illustrates applications of the theory to solutions of problems motivated by practical applications. * Interprets the theoretical results to understand the response of structures to various dynamic excitations, with emphasis on earthquake excitation. * Applies structural dynamics theory to conduct parametric studies that bring out several fundamental issues in the earthquake response and design of multistory buildings. * Illustrates analytical procedures by over 100 worked out examples. * Includes over 400 figures that have been carefully designed and executed to be pedagogically effective. * Photographs of structures and their responses recorded during earthquakes are included to relate the presentation to the real world.
From the Publisher
This structures text places emphasis on earthquake analysis and response and design of structures. It omits non- essential and advanced topics including variational formulation of the equations of motion-Larange's equations, finite element method for continua, etc.
