The main objective of this monograph is to describe the important physics and chemistry of explosive and propellant performance and vulnerability that have been learned using numerical and experimental methods during the last fifty years. Another objective is to describe in detail the numerical methods that have been developed for modeling explosives and propellants and to include on a CD-ROM the executable codes for personal computers and the required data files so that the reader may apply the numerical methods to his own particular explosive or propellant system.

  FREE Autodesk AutoCAD files Web view/edit/share

FREE Autodesk AutoCAD files Web view/edit/share

There is a big thing in the air:
- Autodesk is offering a free web address where you can use a "virtual" Autocad for viewing, editing and sharing of CAD files (dwg file format).
It's FREE of charge (only register!) and you can:
- View and Edit DWG files format using any web browser running under Windows or Mac;
- Work on the go using iPhone, iPod or iPad;
- Keep on-line files up-to-date (needs a free plug-in);
- Store thousands of files using your on-line workspace;
- Share with others to view and edit on-line (real time) together;
- See drawings revision history (timeline).

I just do the register and test the product! I'm pretty impressed with the performance!
It is an extremely useful tool for customers who do not have Autocad installed or for situations where we have no access to autocad and needs to see a drawing.

(The example in the image above is a Cad ver 2000 file format. No problem to open any version)

The present work illustrates a challenging example of design and construction of a quite important large underwater embankment on very soft soil. Throughout the design staged construction and ground improvement by deep mixing combined with geotextile reinforcement were proposed to assure the safety as well as allowable deformations of the construction. The outcome of monitoring excess pore water pressures and displacements during the construction shows that when taking account of key aspects of advanced soil stress-strain behavior, it is possible to appropriately model such complex problem and even to make rather simple attempts to reach some of the “type A” foundation behavior predictions. We may expect this work to be recognized as a valuable reference case history for the geotechnical engineer, both from the academic as well as from the practitioner’s point of view, in order to contribute to the art of building on soft soils.

This book is primarily concerned with the analysis and assessment of the behaviour of soft clay in compression and shearing, both in their undisturbed and strengthened states. Soft clay deposits are widespread and cover many coastal regions of the world, such as in Japan, Eastern Canada, Norway, Sweden and other Scandinavian countries, India, and the South East Asian countries. Another feature of these coastal regions is that certain shore areas are lowlands, quite often due to subsidence on account of excessive withdrawal of ground water. The Central Plain (Chao Phraya) of Thailand and Saga Bay in Southern Japan are some examples of lowland areas. All these are inhabited zones, having undergone extensive urbanization and industrialization. Further extensive developmental activities are apace in many lowland areas to promote human activities, such as agriculture, industry, housing and such other infrastructure facilities.

A comprehensive overview of stormwater and wastewater collection methods from around the world, written by leading experts.

One student view about this book:
I studied a structural engineering in college & have no background in hydraulics, but somehow ended up in site-planning. My mentor left my firm & I was left on my own to struggle through drainage designs. This book has been a great complement to the guidelines & regulations I have, and has helped understand the theory behind all the computer based calculations I run.

The Fourth International Conference on Soft Soil Engineering provided an opportunity for geo-professional, geotechnical engineers, academic and researchers, to share their experiences and research results on soft soils.The Fourth International Conference on Soft Soil Engineering was held in Vancouver where there are soft soil problems since Vancouver is situated at the river delta of the Fraser River. Delegates from over 20 countries gathered in Hotel Vancouver between October 4 and 6, 2006 to discuss soft soils engineering. The conference dealt with many technical issues of soft soil engineering such as soft soil construction, ground behaviour of soft soils, numerical modeling, hazard mitigation and post hazard ground investigation and improvements. There were four keynote lectures given by leading professors/engineers from Canada, Germany, Australia and China who shared their research findings and experiences in dealing with soft soils.
