Cable-Supported Bridges - Challenging Technical Limits
The Conference 'Cable-Supported Bridges', Seoul, 12 -14 June 2001, was organised by the Korean Group of IABSE and the Korea Highway Corporation. It attracted 365 participants from 35 countries.
The theme of the conference was introduced by the Keynote Lecturers: S.P. Chang, Korea; J. E. Roberts, USA; J. Combault, France; M.R. Feng, China; M. Kitagawa, Japan, C.K. Kau, Hong Kong. A Special Session on the recently completed Seohae and Yongyong Bridges in Korea was followed by Concurrent Sessions with the following themes:
• Conceptual Design: Case Studies I
• Conceptual Design: Case Studies II
• Trend and Innovative Ideas
• Static Behaviour
• Analysis Methods
• Aerodynamic Aspects
• Dynamics; Seismic Design
• System Identification, Monitoring and Control
• Construction and Maintenance and Operation.
The Keynote Lectures, papers and posters presented have been collected in a report and are a valuable contribution to the design, construction, operation and maintenance of cable-supported bridges.
