The most common terminals for tankers are sea islands and piers; however, many other shipboard operations such as mooring at Single Point Moorings (SPM's), Multi-Buoy Moorings (MBM's), emergency towing, barge mooring, tug handling, anchoring, canal transit may fall into the category of mooring and thus require specialized equipment or fittings.
