Author: CEN/TC 139 | Size: 2.9 MB | Format: PDF | Publisher: CEN | Year: 1997-2006
Contents:
1. EN 927-1:1996 Paints and varnishes - Coating materials and coating systems for exterior wood - Part 1: Classification and selection
This European Standard specifies a system for the classification of coating systems for exterior wood surfaces by categories of end use, appearance and exposure conditions. It is applicable to all coating materials and coating systems intended for decoration and protection of exterior wood surfaces including those which contain biologically protective ingredients for the protection of coatings and at their interface with the wood surface (film preservation).
2. EN 927-2:2006 Paints and varnishes - Coating materials and coating systems for exterior wood - Part 2: Performance specification
This part of EN 927 addresses performance criteria for coating systems on exterior wood. Performance requirements are specified according to the categories of ''end use'' and ''exposure conditions'' (defined in EN 927-1) in terms of the results of natural weathering performance testing carried out in accordance with EN 927-3. A mandatory water permeability test in accordance with EN 927-5 is also specified. Additional optional tests are identified which may be used by suppliers to provide voluntary additional information, to a standardized format, on aspects of performance relevant to specific building components such as windows.
3. EN 927-3:2006 Paints and varnishes - Coating materials and coating systems for exterior wood - Part 3: Natural weathering test
This part of EN 927 specifies a natural weathering test for exterior wood coating systems mainly intended for decoration and protection of planed and sawn wood.
The test provides a means of evaluating the performance of a wood coating system during outdoor exposure. It forms the basis for the performance specification in accordance with EN 927-2.
4. EN 927-4:2000 Paints and varnishes - Coating materials and coating systems for exterior wood - Part 4: Assessment of the water-vapour permeability
This part of EN 927 specifies a test method for assessing the water-vapour permeability of coating systems for exterior wood by measuring the absorption and desorption of water vapour by coated wood panels. Results are expressed as the mass, in grams, of water gained and lost during two 14 day periods under specified conditions.
5. EN 927-5:2006 Paints and varnishes - Coating materials and coating systems for exterior wood - Part 5: Assessment of the liquid water permeability
This part of EN 927 specifies a test method for assessing the liquid water permeability of coating systems for exterior wood by measuring the water absorption of coated wood panels.
Results are expressed as water absorption in grams per square metre during a period of 72 h.
6. EN 927-6:2006 Paints and varnishes - Coating materials and coating systems for exterior wood - Part 6: Exposure of wood coatings to artificial weathering using fluorescent UV lamps and water
This part of EN 927 specifies a method for determining the resistance of wood coatings to artificial weathering performed in an apparatus equipped with fluorescent UV lamps, condensation and water spray devices.
