The Technical Standards and Commentaries for Port and Harbour Facilities in Japan (OCDI-2009)
If anyone has the book, Please upload it. thanks
Published by The Overseas Coastal Area Development Institute of Japan
Japan is famous for its long coastline (34,000km) and its many ports and harbors (1,100 commercial ones and 3,000 fishing ports). To promote the healthy development of ports and harbors in Japan, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport established the technical standards for port and harbor facilities in 1978 and has updated them every 10 years. The technical standards and commentaries have been written in Japanese naturally, and therefore the contents were a mystery to overseas engineers and researchers. Now an English version of the newest edition (1999) is available for purchase.
1. General (5 pages)
2. Design Conditions (205 pages)
3. Materials (31 pages)
4. Precast Concrete Units (33 pages)
5. Foundatlons (73 pages)
6. Navigation Channels and Basins (13 pages)
7. Protective Facilities for Harbors (45 pages)
8. Mooning Facilities (159 pages)
9. Other Port Facilities (23 pages)
10. Special Purpose Wharves (9 pages)
11. Marinas (11 pages)
The technical standards and commentaries are contained in a hardcover book in A4 size.
Many unique features of Japanese technology are fully exposed. Examples include the design method against random wave actions, seismic design of port and harbor facilities, foundation improvement for soft subsoil, details of concrete caisson design, design of upright breakwaters, earthquake-resistant performance analysis of pile-supported open wharves and other facilities, and so on.
The book is a must for port and harbor engineers who are endeavoring to upgrade their technical know-how, especially by way of exploring foreign technology. Researchers in many fields will also benefit from the book by finding many examples of amalgamation of research accomplishments and engineering practice.
