Dear All,

I was wondering if anyone came across papers, books, or codes discussing stability and design of RC or steel framed buildings constructuted on hilly slopes.

Any information will be helpful.

Regards,

Sher

Why would the structural stability design be any different from a structure design on plain ground unless the structure/building is experiencing lateral loads from the retaining walls. Other than that, slope stability of the foundations is the only one affecting the stability of the building on a hill slope. You will need to consider both scenario in this case. It is difficult to explain what you need unless you get the concept right first.

you may find some related material from geotechnical point of view here

From my point of view there are two major concerns: 1. Slope stability and 2., a possible dynamic amplification of building response under seismic loading. In both cases, the problem has to be faced from a geothecnical point of view.
