General Description :
Some of the new features in SewerCAD V8i include:
Updated User Interface
The SewerCAD V8i graphical user interface has been completely redesigned to provide more flexibility and a better user experience. The workspace can be customized by dragging and resizing windows, or by docking them to the main display.
Data Connection and Import
Import SewerGEMS and StormCAD files. The included ModelBuilder module also allows users to import/export virtually any data source (spreadsheet, database, Shapefile, OLE DB connections, etc.).
AutoCAD 2009 Platform Support
SewerCAD V8i for AutoCAD supports the latest AutoCAD version, AutoCAD 2009. As a reminder, SewerCAD for AutoCAD includes support for both AutoCAD and MicroStation, as well as a stand-alone interface.
MicroStation V8i Platform Support
SewerCAD V8i is able to run on the MicroStation V8i platform. That means that all of the SewerCAD tools are available from within the MicroStation environment (so users can design and analyze a storm sewer system and review results without leaving MicroStation). MicroStation support is included in both SewerCAD Stand-Alone and SewerCAD for AutoCAD.
DATA MANAGEMENT
Active Topology Alternatives
The Active Topology feature allows SewerCAD users to set up different scenarios to examine various system expansion strategies. For example, a new subdivision can be made active in one scenario, and the resulting flows and hydraulic grade line elevations compared to another scenario in the same file where the new subdivision is inactive.
Automated Sewer Loads Allocation using LoadBuilder
The newly included LoadBuilder module helps modelers allocate sewer loads based on a variety of GIS-based sources, such as customer water use data, area-wide flow measurement, or polygons with known population or land use.
Terrain Extraction using Trex
The new Trex tool in SewerCAD is able to extract ground elevations from DXF files, Shapefiles or LandXML files, and assign those to junctions in the model.
Element Property Inferencing
Let SewerCAD interpolate missing data. For example, elevation data may be missing from a manhole or some property may be missing from a pipe. In such cases, SewerCAD's Element Property Inferencing tool can draw "inferences" about those values from property values from nearby elements.
Background Layer Support
SewerCAD now supports multiple background layers in each project. In addition, SewerCAD supports the following file types for use as background layers: DXF, Shapefile, Bitmap, JPEG, TIFF, PNG, GIF and MrSID.
GIS-Style Symbology
Configure your model to display zoom-dependent symbol sizes that dynamically change while navigating your model.
Named Views
Define and save a named view, so that you can quickly and easily return to that same area of interest at any time.
Queries
Run a pre-defined query, or create your own, to isolate and select elements of interest (for example, all pipes where the average velocity is less than 2 ft/s).
Network Navigator
A powerful new utility to find and fix network topology and connectivity issues resulting from inconsistent source data.
Hyperlinks
Link digital photos, relevant documents, websites and other electronic files to elements within a SewerCAD model.
ANALYSIS AND OPERATIONS
Improved Controls with Control Management
The Control Manager manages all controls, conditions, actions, and control sets in the system. The Control Manager allows you to define controls using advanced IF, AND, and OR condition logic, which can trigger any number of THEN or optional ELSE actions.
Tractive Stress Calculations
Calculate the tractive stress for each pipe of your system and for each time-step (if you're running an Extended-Period Simulation). SewerCAD lets you know whether the tractive stress target has been exceeded.
Variable-Speed Pump Battery Element
Model complex batteries of variable speed pumps using a single simplified element that correctly models series and parallel installations as a whole.
System Head Curve
System head curves are a useful tool for visualizing the static and dynamic head for varying rates of discharge and various static head conditions. SewerCAD's System Head Curves manager allows users to create, edit, and manage system head curves.
RESULTS INTERPRETATION TOOLS
Contours
Quickly create a contour plot of model input (like ground elevations) or results (such as hydraulic grade line), and export these directly to MicroStation, AutoCAD, or DXF format.
New Engineering Profiles
Review your results dynamically with the customizable Standard Profiles, or set up your profile and profile's labels for construction drawing (DXF) export with the Engineering profiles.
