Hy all
SHIFTING OF UCS OR ORIGIN IN STAADPRO
Yes its a good topic we can share our knowledge in case of staadpro
recently i modelled a difficult frame structure in autocad and exported as DXF to inport in staadpro, but i forgot to shift the origin in autocad
since when when we apply the floor load in staadpro we need to define the x and z ranges so as apply the 2 way slab load
since the origin in staadpro was away from the first node , was not able to define the x and z ranges, what i did is noted the x y z coordinates of node 1 (it was something like this 3.482 9 -3.557), then selected all nodes, right clicked, slected the move command and entered the above coordinates and this worked and i am done with origin shifting in staadpro, may be simple for others but felt very relax when i am done with this..............though i could have shifted easily in AutoCAD

I think that also can be done using the move origin command....

Hy
before analyzing it is recommended to check your model, like supports, multiple structures, dimensions.........etc etc
plz share more about staadpro

Few tips for the newbies in Staad.

1- Always define seismic definations and load first before any other load case.
2- Always use repeat load combinations for P-Delta analysis.
3- Check for default strength of concrete and steel.
4- Always use load list for analysis / design, otherwise you will be stuck with primary load other than combination which you do not want.

Correct me if i am wrong, i will appreciate it. Would love to hear from other members too.

Thanks and regards,

while designing RCC components in STAAD...
it is recommended to use RC-Designer mode instead of using direct command prompt..

if you encounter such error like seismic load must be define first something like that. so that you will not delete all you have define load data's to modify and place seismic then other loads you can used STAAD editor to correct it

it is a matter of copy and paste method for the rearrangement of loads

I problem that i have encountered using staad is, you cannot import circular lines like helix from dxf file. For that one of my friend told me to model it in sap than import it in Staad. it is a good option if u know Sap. Anyone who have imported helix , ramp, stairs from dxf please share. May be i did something wrong...

Thanks and regards,

Hy
As far Geometric stairs are concerned you can use "reverse cylindrical coordinates" syetem, i will post it here

Hy
plz use reverse cylindrical coordinate system
something like this
----------------------
JOI COO CYLINDRICAL REV
1 1 0 0 22 1 4 270
R A 4 .3 0 0
ele inci
1 1 2 24 23 TO 21
R A 3 21 22
if u r confuse, do let me know
