Most structural engineers have at least a little knowledge of what base isolation es - system of springs installed at the base of a structure to protect against earthquake damage. They know less about the when and why -when to use base isolation and why use it? When it comes to how, they either have too little knowledge or too much knowledge. Conflicting claims from promotores and manufacturers are confusing, contradictory and difficult to fully assess. Then, if a system can be selected from all the choices, there es the final set of how to design he ssystem, how to connect it to the structure, how to evaluate its performance and how to design the system, how to connect it to the structure, how to evaluate its performance andh how to specify, test and build it. And, of course, the big how, how much does it cost?

First you need a code. You can use UBC97, ....
The main difference between ordinary and base isolated model is in additional link elements that you should put in isolated model.
The main purpose of those link elements are to model bearing behavior.
In SAP2000 there are several types of link elements. Depending of bearing behavior you should choose appropriate link model.
