SCI P288 Fire Safe Design - Multi-Storey Steel-Framed
Size: 2.86 MB | Format: PDF | Quality: Original preprint | Publisher: The Steel Construction Institute | Year: 2000 | pages: 107 | ISBN: 1 85942 120 2
This publication is the first to offer guidance on the design of composite steel-framed buildings in fire based on lessons learned from the full-scale fire tests carried out at the Building Research Establishment, Cardington, during 1995 and 1996. The guide contains simple design rules (‘Level 1’) that are based largely on the observed behaviour and which will allow some economies to be made in the fire protection requirements of some composite steel-framed buildings. It is hoped that in due course, much more comprehensive guidance (‘Level 2’), based on a more detailed analysis, in cluding extensive numerical modelling, will be developed. Level 2 guidance will allow further economies to be made.
