ETABS Load Combo Sheet

Have a look at it...may be u find it useful...its for manually creating combos in excel and then importing back to etabs..as it allows the flexibility to create combinations in table format and less chances for errors as compared with that of ETABS unfriendly load combo interface...Report back any bugs or suggestions...thanks

Thanks for the excellent work!

Just a few question on how to use the excel sheet.

For step1: I can only have 6 types of load cases being the 1st the self weight, then any load case and the 6th is always the main lateral load case?, and i cannot leave a column blank also or is only the rows?, because lets say i only have selfweight, live and seismic, the rest of the columns are blank?

The combinations with the +/- signs are generated automatically right? (wind and seismic)

Now, lets say i made all the combos and everything... then step5, then step6 and ask me for a text file... why?

Now lets say a double click my text file ($et file) and the problem is the gives me an error

So... can you explain everything a little bit please...

YES YOU CAN LEAVE BLANK COLUMNS ...but not rows

NO! it doesnt generate +/- automatically..instead i used a different approach..LETS say you have x and y directions for WIND..you can define Positive X and Negative X..as WND-PX and WND-NX...and then apply the manual loads wind loads in positive and negative direction as is the case in WIND LOAD FROM AREA EXTENTS IN ETABS...if you want to include +/- signs..you will have to change that signs your self..but dont worry..i will work out for this feature too..keep suggesting..

IF YOU WILL NOT SPECIFIY THE $ET FILE..HOW THE EXCEL SHEEL WILL WRITE COMBINATIONS IN ETABS TEXT FILE FOR YOU?

it gives you error because you dont have a necessary windows file for file system object[b]

Ok, thanks!, i will work on weekend in studying the sheet building an example... i really like the idea of creating the combos in a more easier way, because ETABS is like an old age program to input these things!, not like in SAP where you can input that in a excel file.
