What's the best way to make pdf e-book? I've never done that so any tip would be helpful.

Thanks in advance

Use the adobe acrobat professional, if you have that software you can convert microsoft word and excel to pdf and combine it in one pdf file.

I'm using every day a Toshiba e-Studio 450 (laser printer) to scan and send to email in PDF format.
I think every printer maker have models combining copy, fax and scanner. For books is difficult to scan every page but the answer is - some scanners scan in PDF.

@ emmi

If you want to convert picture with text (even tables and maybe diagrams) into just a text that you can modify/ copy-paste or something else, use ABBYY FineReader. Here is link to it:

P.S. This software can even convert scanned handwriting into MS Word text..

According to my friend Google :) latest version of the ABBYY software is ABBYY FineReader 9.0 - i.e. version that I've linked in previously mentioned:

I think that the last version is 9.0.1042 but 9.0.1019 (from the link above) is the first supporting OCR for some new languages (Arabic, Hebrew, Persian).
